Ride For Life

Another adventure is complete. We’ve now linked up all of the pieces necessary for the Ride Around the Santa Ritas epic. The question remains: can it be done in a single day?

It’s going to be a delicate balance of waiting for daylight but not waiting so long that it’s too hot. It’s going to be a difficult ride and a difficult balance.

Yesterday’s ride was an adventure itself. We covered the southern half of the mountains, then looped back around. The ride began at 9am and finished just before dark. It was a beautiful day and especially evening, riding up the Salero road as the sun set behind us. We saw some incredible country and some incredible hike-a-bike. I think it suffices to say that the ride was one of the best all day epics ever.

63 miles, 10 hours, 9000 feet of climbing and a solid 55 on the TopoFusion difficulty index.

After the Tremo Challenge and this ride, I’m ready for some rest and a lack of big rides. My sister is coming to town, so we’ll likely do a hike or two, but that’s about it. It will probably be a day or two before I return to normal operation.
