Lemmon

This is the ride I’ve been searching for on Mt. Lemmon for years. Don’t get me wrong, Lemmon is full of mountain bike goodness, but you work for it. I’m not talking about earning your turns. Even the “shuttle” rides are no walk in the park. The earning comes from hike-a-bikes, downed trees and fighting your way through whatever plant of the day has decided to reclaim the trail. (Among other difficulties)

Lemmon has been a place to seek adventure, not so much to seek a ‘good’ ride. That is, until Mr. Chad clued me into the key links that allow one to combine some sweet sections, if one is so inclined.

And inclined we were. Or declined as the case may be.

The route remains largely untouched by the fires.

Isn’t eroded out, despite massive rainfall.

Is full of chunk and technical challenge,

but you rarely walk the bike.

Has pretty things to look at.

Doesn’t drop into the desert. A good thing when it’s nearly 100 down there.

(Pic from last night, sunset riding with Paula at Sweetwater)

Jason summed it up:

“Great weather, great company, great single track. It just doesn’t get any better…”

Indeed.

Chad — I thought you had checked out of the scene. Done ridin’, just a working man.

We saw Dave M at Palisades. He said you were supposed to be climbing Lemmon with him.

Thanks again for finding the ‘secret’ trails.

    Scott,

You got me on the edge of my seat here…. did I miss the how to put it all together info? 🙂

Feeling like Charles Barkley here — “Can I play?” with Scott saying… Over the rocks, through the brush, off the cliff, nothing but sweet mountain biking.

PD – You can play, just have to come on down and I’ll show you.
