Rest and recovery continues… I thought my bug was making a swift exit, but some fatigue and malaise lingers. I’m able to operate reasonably at the computer, but riding or execise is still best left for a later day–hopefully tomorrow.

The combined weekend crews ripped out about 2 miles of new Arizona Trail out in the Rincon Valley. My crew did some solid work on the turn and wash drop in. I think they had some fun too. I know I did, despite my failing health. I guess the trailwork (and just being “out”) energized me, since I felt OK while working. It was a different story at home, though. I napped most of the rest of the weekend away.

The state of being sick is a strange one. One day I felt healthy and strong, the next miserable and weak. It’s easy to give up and pity yourself when sick, and in some sense I did operate only to “kill time” — just waiting to feel better. But actually I rather enjoyed it for a time. I read some books, took extended naps and took some time for reflective thought. Feverish thought, but reflective nonetheless. My legs, I think, are thanking me for a well earned rest from muscle destroying mountain biking. Now, my mind aches even more. Thoughts turn to the outside world, the mountains, trails, old roads, the wind, fresh air and the kiss of life. I need to get out.

Still searching for direction for the directionless. outside=good,TF=good, writing=good, research=good, but which, and how much? More importantly, why?
