I finally put away the book of excuses and rode out to Paula’s school for our Friday Sweetie ride.
This is the only thing preventing Paula from a nearly traffic free (14 mile!) commute to work:

(the Santa Cruz River)
I crossed it, but I’m not sure I’d want to do it every day. Instead she braves impatient drivers at Camino del Cerro / I-10. Ugh.
We blasted through her weekly records update, anxious to get out of there with as much sunlight as possible.

A few minutes later we were on scrumptious singletrack at Sweetwater.

We exited the park on the south side, following the TMP challenge route to Ironwood Hills. We blew by several hundred cars backed up at I-10 / Grant, merging onto the Santa Cruz river trail:

Back through the University on a beautious evening. A nice 33-ish mile loop for me.

Over the weekend we headed out to Robles Pass to sample the new goods Tim, Mark and crew have been building.
Our friend the rock wren guided us through the 4-foot culvert under Ajo Road, singing and echoing all the way.

Paula’s first ride out at Robles was a good one. She digs ‘Mark Flint’ trails.

We rode the ‘up and over’ — the technical one. Paula ate it up, gliding through the switchbacks like a pro.

Sunday she won the ‘Sunrise at Old Tucson’ trail (running) race. Good weekend? Yep.
Ohhh the infamous SC crossing. I am going to take a few minutes the next time I ride sweetie to make a bridge there. I think we will all benefit from a nice stream crossing there.
I really like the fourth shot (the sunsets aren’t shabby either!)
