Plenty of good things going on…
- Riding back through the University today I saw the longest line of bike commuters I’ve ever seen in Tucson. True, it was ~9am. True, the temps have dropped lately. But still, it was an awesome sight — a constant stream of cyclists all the way from Campbell to Treat.
- Blind Pilot West Coast Bicycle Tour. These guys are pedaling to their gigs from Washington to California. Check out the site for pictures of their custom trailer sized to carry an upright bass. A band touring by bike is pretty much the coolest idea ever, as far as I’m concerned. From what I’ve heard the music is pretty good too…
- The lost boys – Eric and Dylan are back from an ambitious and ground breaking trip along the Alaskan coast. 3 weeks by bike, packraft and, of course, foot (hike-a-bike). The packrafting looks way over my head, but I’m sure jealous of the adventure and of all the beautifully rideable yet never ridden stretches they hit.
- lacemine29.blogspot.com – Mike is proving that our CDT trip was a rare one in even more ways. He’s writing up his perspective on the trip, and in record time and detail. Good reading.
- Geoff’s Wasatch 100 report tells the tale of everything coming together on a very challenging (and long) foot race. I’ve long dreamed (and feared) a bike attempt of the same course. It’s all open to bikes, so what are we waiting for?
- Congrats to my sister Lisa on meeting her ambitious goal. Keep it up!
- Troy and Dara had their little girl, and it was epic in every sense. Big congrats to them!
- Trans Utah – 300 miles of the route are done and available to be raced/toured. DH’s baby, looking to be quite the route. Start is Friday, Oct 3, 2008.
- Diary of Scott Morris – A new look for the old diary. Overdue, really. Though the main impetus was to allow posting larger pictures inline. It’s funny that I’ve been logging rides here for more than 5 years. Rereading old posts is surprisingly effective at bringing back the tone and feelings of many of the rides. For me, anyway.
- Finally, I’ve been working on a new web site this week. The information download from my head and from my archive of GPS data is underway. Opening soon…

great posts and photos about the CDT trip on both your’s and mike’s blogs. I haven’t had a whole lot of ambition to ride since the GDR, but seeing all these pictures has me feeling a little more motivated to get back out for some bikepacking once i’m back in utah next week.
You’ve seriously considered riding the Wasatch 100 course? Wow. From what little I know about it, I’m impressed. I’d like to see some of those trails, but I’d be more likely to actually complete it if I left the wheels at home.
