Flowers are starting to pop. These are from the Sentinel Ridge Trail, en route to Tucson Mountain Park.
Temperature was nearly 80 degrees for the ride. And when I get home I’m supposed to blog about a 1,100 mile unsupported trip in sub-freezing temps. Kinda hard for me to imagine such things, but I sure am having fun “watching” Mike’s trip in real time. So far it’s been clear sailing for him — or so it would seem. While I get points from him, I have no other communication with him, so it’s largely speculation on my part! Fun stuff.
There’s a map I whipped up in TopoFusion of his progress today, complete with AK adjusted time stamps at each bread crumb.
To follow along, check in on Mike’s blog:

As for my 80 degree riding — man was it a beautiful day. Just one of those rides where you feel like you belong exactly where you are. That is, until I started descending to Starr Pass Blvd. Each ledge felt like someone was punching me in the side. No biggie, I thought, as I rolled more pavement into Starr Pass. At least it doesn’t hurt to breathe, and my knee seemed solid.
By the time I finished my loop at Starr Pass I was craving smooth surfaces like never before. It was a heck of an uncomfortable ride back across town. Seems my rib is broken and doesn’t take kindly to rough trail. That’s pretty much all we have around these parts, so I’ll play the part of a dirt roadie for the time being.
Looks smooth, but it sure didn’t feel smooth.
Baseline power stuff is ready for beta in TF. Still waiting to get my hands on a power-enabled TCX file so I can save power, though. Hopefully soon.
I could really use some 80 degree riding. Shit, I’ll take 60 degree riding.
Sorry to hear about the ribs. Doesn’t seem to have slowed you down too much. We have been having a heat wave with highs in the low 50’s. Heading off to warmer spots Friday.
