Finally got an eTrex Legend CX in. TopoFusion (and other programs) have problems communicating with the new X units, but after an hour and a half of debugging and coding we’ve got X support now.
We’ll do a quick beta version and then a full release.
It’s a nice little unit and it was cool that it came with the bike clip (but not the handlebar mount). So I can mount it using my existing handlebar mounts (for older etrex and 60CS). I don’t know about claims of the X-antennas seeing through walls and such. I couldn’t get a lock in Gould Simpson, and signal has been marginal in my house. Alan will give it a good test in the thick trees of Oregon.
All the eTrex models have a SiRF Star III GPS receiver which is highly sensitive making it one of the best for weak GPS signal locations like under trees. See….
