Working on taxes, version 2.0 of TopoFusion (we’re finally out of beta!), and a weekend plan. I found some very excellent topo maps of Mexico at the UofA library, but it sounds like we’ll be backpacking in the Rincons instead. Either suits me, really.
Backtracking…
4/11 – Rode the tandum [sic] to the top of Kolb/Wilmot with Paula for Stephanie’s baby shower. It sounded like a good idea at the time, but on a few of the hills Paula hopped off to walk/run and I couldn’t keep up with her. There was a nasty southern headwind that was really killing us. The ride back was crazy–overrunning our gears flying down a dark and shoulderless Craycroft rd.
4/12 – Submitted the final, publication version of our “Digital Trail Libraries” paper for the JCDL conference. As usual it took until near midnight and included a ridiculous amount of wrestling with MS word and Acrocrap. Latex is horrible, word is horrible, acrobat is horrible. There simply is no easy way to write a professional paper.
The paper gives the details on the network algorithm that is present in TopoFusion. I’ll be presenting it at the conference in June.
4/13/04 – Gave a short lecture on snakes in class today. I let everyone go early which I think was appreciated by all. Afterwards Alan and I went for a nearly completely dark Suburban Assault ride with our newly arrived GPS units: Forerunner and GPS 60CS. A few comments will be forthcoming, but it’s clear Garmin has significantly improved things over the eTrex series. Now, to add USB support to TopoFusion….
