I just tried uploading a track to a customers Edge 705 that was recently updated. The GPS transfer worked (a TCX file was put in the GPX folder), but when the customer tried to verify the track by navigating to (via saved tracks), it took forever to calculate, reached the 100% level then completely froze. We had to force the power off.
Then we tried to just move the file into the GPX folder, tried to verify the track, and the unit froze again.
The customer said he had never had his unit freeze. Any idea idea what the issue might be?
I can email you the file, if that would help.

Hmm, that's strange. How many points did the file have? It may be that it is too large and something with the update introduced a bug (in the Edge). I'd simplify it down to 10k or less and try it again.
It's unlikely to be a TF issue, though it's always possible.

I simplified it to a 500 pt track...
It was a peculiar thing, and its not the first time I've seen Garmin's act peculiar.

FYI...just had another EDGE705 with a six-week old update hang up on the track verification. It never got past the calculate navigation step. And would only recalculate when the cancel button was clicked.
Maybe I should be posting on the Garmin Forum...

On my 705 w/ user generated maps on the microSD. I'm only having luck directly copying the *.gpx to the SD garmin/GPX folder.
The send to gps function seems to give me an *.TCX file in Garmin memorys (garmin/GPX folder) which the 705 then won't read???

Interesting. Wish I had a 705 to test on. I assume it's a relatively recent firmware?
I can make a note to change the upload for the 705 to GPX instead of TCX. I think that's a bit of an artifact from when the 705 and newer units were first coming out. Thanks for the post.

Hey Mike,
There's a new beta out that should switch 705 upload to GPX instead of TCX. Please give it out when you have a chance.

Thanks a bunch for the help,
