Complete uninstall?
« on: July 19, 2010, 05:49:44 PM »
How do I do a complete uninstall and install fresh.  (without doing a restore on my system, as that would undo way more than TopoFusion)

When I uninstall, reboot in case anything is in the cache, and re-install, it still automatically loads up the last GPX file it had in it.  (which means somewhere it is remembering it)
I did tell it *not* to save my current map and files when I uninstalled.  It did not remove the TF directory from my settings.

I am having problems with waypoint symbols disappearing (they only show up when there is *also* a track being displayed).  The label for the waypoint always shows up, but if I unload, or uncheck, or even just scroll the map enough that the track is off, the waypoint symbol also disappears.

I am hoping somehow it's a weird setting, and I can clear it out with a complete reinstall, but so far I haven't been able to get a completely clean re-install (as it still reloads the old file so I know it knows something).

And so far I have had no luck with the waypoint display problem being fixed.

Setup:
Windows 7
Had TF 3.973, just tried 4.0 today.  (had the problem before I upgraded)

I can recreate the waypoint disappearing problem by just drawing a point and a waypoint in TF.  But I initially had it when I had downloaded a set of waypoints from a 76csx, and a track from an Oregon 300.

Any suggestions???

I remember this problem, and unfortunately haven't made any progress on it.  Every Windows 7 system I have tried seems to work fine, so I am not sure how to proceed.

The settings file that is not getting deleted (which is strange) is called TopoFusion.ini.  It really should be removing it, regardless of the choice to remove all, so this may be a W7 thing.  Remind me, were you installing for multiple users or as one that is not an admin?

The software will look in multiple places for the .ini file, so I'd do a global search and kill any that you find.

However, I do not think that's what is causing the issue, I think it's something else.

I am installing for a non-admin user.

I did a search on topo* before but didn't find anything.  I wonder if maybe it is set up as either a hidden file or an admin file and W7 is trying to protect me from myself and not show it to me.
I will hunt around and figure out where it's putting it.
