Splitting a large GPX
« on: November 07, 2010, 09:17:09 AM »
What is the best way to break out a section of a large track and make it a smaller separate track?

I've tried using the scissors too. That seems to be what I need, but I can't figure it out.

I've also tried using the Select Point tools and also selecting individual track points from with the track Properties, but I can't figure out how to save either one.

Thanks

In the properties menu you could delete all *but* the points you want to keep, then save the file.

But what I'd recommend is using the scissors to cut at the start/end point.  Then switch to the merge tool, and select the piece you want.  Now right click and choose "save as..." to save just that piece to a new GPX file.

Hope that makes sense.  Oh, then right click on the original file in the active file list and reload it.

Thanks Scott. The merge tool was the part I was missing. With that it worked like a charm.
