Almost no maps work any more?
« on: March 27, 2013, 11:40:21 PM »
Using 4.70 Pro & only Open Street & Open Aerial will download.  I've tried reinstalling, deleting all tiles/maps, disabling firewall, etc.  I haven't been using TF for a long time (many months).  Also noticed that my map cache size shows 0/0 mb which seems odd but I haven't kept up with changes to the program.  Where should I start debugging?  I really want to use Aerial 1m which used to work just fine.

OK, sorry, I guess they are working but the delay before they start downloading has increased tremendously to 1-3 minutes!  Strange.

Hi,

Sometimes there are hiccups in the various servers, but the 0/0mb cache number is a little troubling.

You might try changing the directory of your map cache if you continue to have issues.

I tried that & the cache still shows 0/0.  Other settings in this area are 25% of available memory & use DXT1.  I've had issues with file permissions lately but am the owner of all the directories TF uses (as far as I can tell).  Could this be related?  Does TF use Temp &, if so, how specifically?  I have a single Temp directory that all Users point to.  This does seem to cause some trouble with other software.

Also, no proxy, 20 active connections, persistent, 60 seconds to restart...

OK, I see TF definitely does make use of a temporary file.  I'll mess with that a little more & welcome any other suggestions you may have, especially regarding the 0/0 cache issue.

Hey,

You may want to try the new beta (v4.76).  I fixed a few things with map downloads.  Also the memory cache size has been removed -- it was a 64bit bug hangover -- not causing any issues.

Let me know if 4.76 works better for you or not.

Thanks.

MUCH better, thanks!  Haven't used it a lot yet, but all aerial tile loading seems quite a bit faster.  I'm still having some trouble with Aerial (1M, for example).  It downloads most of the tiles very quickly but stalls on a few at random & never fetches them (Retrying, download, red x icon), even after left clicking with the Load Maps tool.  I haven't tried deleting all my maps & starting over again.  I'll post more as I use it more.  Definitely an improvement though - thanks!

Tried selecting an area just a bit larger than a single tile in Aerial 1M to see if I could get an errant tile to download & it seems to have unveiled some sort of issue.  Now no Aerial 1M tiles will download.  I had various tilesets selected to download, including Aerial 1M (just whatever I had selected last time I used the tool).  It downloaded to about 40% or so & stopped.  I had to Cancel & that's when I noticed no new Aerial 1M tiles will download at all.  If I switch back to Open Aerial, new tiles do download, still fast too.  Closed & restarted TF & still can't download any new Aerial 1M but it is trying since I do get new red X's.
