24HITOP File Consolidation???
« on: February 20, 2017, 10:30:53 PM »
I'm supporting a 24HITOP rider and she did 15 laps this year... She wanted to have the whole event saved as a single activity but the etrex that we used created three separate files. I thought that it would be simple by just combining the tracks and saving them as tcx but I was wrong. It saves as a single file but all analysis shows up individually instead of as a whole. Strange... Am I doing something wrong?

Also, the lap analysis is way off and created an extra lap that didn't coordinate with the full laps. I can't figure out how to get it to recognize where the start is...

I've searched the forums and read the manuals but I'm still confused here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I'm feeling pretty dumb right now!

Hi Tim,

I must admit that the 'lap analysis' tool is not well documented or obvious in its use.  It determines the start of the lap by the first point in the first track in the file.  You may need to trim down the first part of it in order to get it to behave better.

As for merging the files, which method did you use to merge?  Did you use the 'merge tool' to click on the tracks in succession?  Or just the 'merge files and save as...' option?  If the latter, it may be that one or more of the laps is stored across two files, so that lap really needs to be merged as a single track, across the files.  It can be tricky with overlapping data like that.

Apologies for missing this reply -- for some reason I didn't get an notification as I usually do on a new post.

Cheers and congrats on 15 laps, dang!
