Feature Requests / Printing leaves a lot to be desired still
« on: June 21, 2013, 05:43:18 PM »
Yes, people still print paper maps.  A better "page setup" with printing in mind shouldn't be too much to ask.  Thanks.

That spot at minimum is not loading, but tiles to the west and south are.  Maybe there is a cache I can clear and try this again as if I had never loaded this area?  Thanks.

TopoFusion Pro / US Topo server issues or some other problem?
« on: September 19, 2012, 08:03:51 AM »
The server is showing 1:14 scale maps but nothing larger scale.  I switched to using MyTopo, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with US Topo at the largest scale.

Is there anything decent out there for Mexico?  Particularly servers with topo maps?  Mexico would be great, thanks.

TopoFusion Pro / Re: Record Multi-Track Playback to video file?

Thanks, I will try that.  Also, in this mode, is there a way to skip through time on the play back?  For instance, an overnight camp stop will just sit and hover for a long time.  what I really am after is to just move through the times where we were moving.

TopoFusion Pro / Record Multi-Track Playback to video file?

This feature is very cool.  Has anyone found a method to record multi track playback from TF to some kind of video file?  I would like to share this and a simple video file would be the best way of doing so.  Thanks.

TopoFusion Pro / Re: Terraserver slow?

no I don't get a message about Terraserver.

It has allowed a download of another screenful after about 15 minutes or so.  I am just going to do a clean uninstall.

I had actually changed the location to a different directory "C:/maps" because I don't like to use the c:users/name/my topofusion files.

I followed your tip and reset this back to the default location and rebooted.  Essentially the same thing happened. I am able to download a screen full of tiles or so and then it stops.

tried it w/o much success.  I just closed the program and restarted to see if that had an affect and I got the following message...

"Couldn't open Maps.dat for writing.  Switching to read only mode and disabling map download.  If not running Topofusion from cd-rom, try deleting map*dat and starting anew."

Cable, fast and confirmed with speedtest.net 31mps dl, 7up.  I am running W7 64bit.

From time to time, it allows me to download a screenfull of tiles, but then when I navigate around, it just goes back to stalled out.  It is as if I am only allowed a limited amount of data download at any given time.

TopoFusion Pro / Terraserver slow?
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:17:53 PM »
I read a post from August that indicated that sometimes the Terraserver is running slow.  Is there a problem currently?  Am I alone?  I am unable to use Topofusion currently due to maps inability to load consistently.

Once in a while I can get a handful of times to load if I tweak the preferences section to change my dialup vs high speed choices.  It is not a firewall issue.  I have been using for more than a year now and have tested with a disabled firewall.

This is a problem with all maps, topo, landsat, canada, etc.

thoughts?

TopoFusion Pro / How to turn on Mexico maps?
« on: November 25, 2009, 08:51:53 AM »
I saw an older post about turning "off" Mexico maps.  I don't see this on mine and I am running W7 and v3.95Pro.  thanks.

Feature Requests / Seachable "Wiki" based documentation
« on: May 29, 2009, 01:30:59 PM »
I was just looking for documentation online and didn't really have any idea what category my questions for printing would fall under.  the ability to "seach" in documentation would be nice.  A wiki lends itself to this quite nicely.

While I am here, is there a way in TF to set up a map for printing at a page size of your choosing?  It just wants to print exactly what is on the screen and it doesn't even fill an 8.5 x 11 page.  The Nat Geo TOPO program has a nice map setup feature for those wishing to print a paper copy of a map, and it allows you to set it up at various sizes, not only 8.5 x 11, but Tabloid and Poster or E size as well, all while retaining the scalle and detail you choose in the map itself.

This program offers the choices you are looking for.

TopoFusion Pro / Photofusion isn't capturing map tiles?
« on: April 12, 2009, 11:46:41 AM »
I am trying Photofusion in an area in the Canadian Rockies.  When I generate an HTML page, the screen immediately switches to showing "unable to display maps" message in each tile.

Bug or am I doing something wrong?

OK, that worked.  Also, I had something checked to use DEM for 3d which was causing the problem.

Thanks!  Any improvement on the Canada maps is welcome.  I just downloaded and I have a couple observations.

Some tiles are still the older, poor quality ones.  (50.37428 N / 122.58572 W for instance) Could this be because they may be on my hard drive from the previous version?

3d profile does not work yet.  Will this be enabled later?

Thanks again!

TopoFusion Pro / Re: Pre Downloading Maps
« on: March 07, 2009, 06:39:12 PM »
How can you "see" what tiles I have downloaded?  Can I select to view only that which is on my hard drive from using the map download tool?  I have used the map download tool a few times so far for Canadian tiles and I would like to keep track of what is in my inventory since I would like to essentially complete a fairly large area that I am likely to visit.

Does selecting and downloading a large square area download all scales of map tiles that intersect the drawn box?  I am not sure I am noticing any improvement in draw times after downloading directly to my drive.

Archived Support / Garmin Etrex Configuration
« on: March 03, 2008, 07:14:14 PM »
I have no idea how to proceed here.

I have an Etrex Legend older model B&W screen that I cannot seem to integrate with this program.

It connects with the serial port on a WXP SP2 computer.  I integrate it normally with Mapsource and TOPO programs w/o any problems.

Anyone else know how to set up for a basic Etrex setup?

Thanks.

Archived Support / Canada?
« on: February 18, 2008, 11:14:27 PM »
I am a new user and am able to connect to the internet for all the map sources offered with the exception of Canada.  It says I have a firewall issue, but I doubt this is the case since my other maps (topo, landsat, etc) come in fine.

Any tips?  Thanks and my apologies if this is covered elsewhere.
