Beta Testing / Insert/Delete Bug with translated GPX files
« on: January 31, 2007, 07:20:31 PM »
I was modifying a line that was translated from our CAD program to GPX and noticed the unmodified portion of the line was 5 feet from its original position.  With some experimentation I found the problem occured when I inserted or deleted a point and then saved the file.  Simply moving a point had no affect, I had to insert or delete a point.  When I checked the file with an ASCII editor I could see the coordinates for the line would change each time I saved after an insert or delete.  Unfortuantely the change does not appear to be uniform from point to point.

I then did the same thing with a file created in Topofusion and noticed the coordinated did not change.  So it appears the problem is with these translated files.

I would be happy to send the files to you.

Thanks

Beta Testing / Beta 2.15 Crashes when loading images
« on: January 05, 2005, 11:28:42 AM »
I just loaded 2.15 and have run into a problem.  If I use any of the topo backgrounds everything works fine, but if I try to change to any of the photo (Aerial or Urban) backgrounds topofusion crashes with this error:

Run-time error '35600':
Index out of bounds

It does not matter if the photos are already downloaded or need to be down loaded.  It will startup ok with a photo background and let me pan and download, but if I change to any other photo resolution it crashes.

I tried moving all the dat files out of the directory to see if that was the problem, but got the same error.

If I try the Landsat images I do not even get an error, topofusion just goes away.

I reverted back to 2.11 and all is well.

This is the log file after one of these crashes.  I was changing from existing topo to existing Aerial

Archived - Feedback and Comments / TrackPoint editing.
« on: May 05, 2004, 03:06:13 PM »
Along these lines, it would be really nice to be able to insert points into a track, and to add tracks to an existing file.  We use Topofusion for pipeline route evaluation.  We pick a route from the topos and photos, then download to a garmin etrex and field check the route.  In the process of route selection we often make changes that require extra points to be added.  I am currently putting in more points than i really need just so i have extras to work with, but this can cause problems if i want to download them as saved tracks, and I exceed the units point limit.  Our engineers love this program, between staff, clients and contractors we have around 15 registered copies.

Beta Testing / Climbing Analysis Erroring out
« on: March 25, 2004, 10:57:29 AM »
Whenever I go into Climbing Analysis before first going into 3D mode, I get the following error and topofusion disappears:

Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108)':

Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.

If I go into 3D mode before using Climbing Analysis it works fine.

Thanks

Mike

Beta Testing / Exception: Access Violation, in Paint
« on: March 25, 2004, 10:48:24 AM »
I too was getting this error whenever there were any active tracks when i started topofusion.  I could start it with no errors if I unloaded all the tracks and restarted it, but it would error out as soon as I loaded a track and did any view operation.  When I looked at the log, I noticed any operation using DirectDraw errored out.   I updated my video drivers and reset them to factory defaults.  The DirectDraw errors went away and I have not had the problem since.

I am running XP pro with a NVIDIA Quadro FX 500 video card.

Beta Testing / Edges in adjacent DEM files
« on: March 03, 2004, 12:59:44 PM »
I have had pretty good luck with subsetting NED data.  I downloaded all the DEM data for Colorado and cut it into 1x1 deg blocks with about a 1/10 of a degree overlap per DEM.  After some trial and error, I found the best results came from subsetting from a larger DEM.  This seems to eliminate gaps and the overlap data is identical.

The Blue dot sits at the junction of 4 DEM's.

Beta Testing / Beta released
« on: February 25, 2004, 10:50:47 AM »
I finally had a chance to play with the new beta version and really like the 3d options.  I have had no problem downloading NED data in 1deg x 1deg chunks. I merge/subset and convert the data using Global Mapper.  It will convert just about any DEM format (DTED, Geotopo30, SRTM ect) to USGS DEM format.

Thanks for the great program

Mike
