I go systematically, basically drawing a box and then manually download sideways to my box end. This keeps me from over shooting my box and allows me to manually patch download by hand. Its still slower and takes up your time but open Aerial seems to be the best server now for color aerials. Doing all of Idaho in Color with all tiles would be about 120gb+ of data though. Its the .003 tiles that eat up the storage space.

Sorry for the delay in response. The servers seem to be working fine now.

It's a shame we can't do batch downloads for Open Aerial it's a really fast server, though they are a little behind on updating their server, I notice Google Earth already has the tiles from 2013 and Open Aerial is still on 2011.

Feature Requests / Custom removal of standard servers?

Hello,

I would like to know if it would be possible to have an option to remove the servers in the side drop down box? I would like to remove ones like Color or mapquest, juicy trails etc. They are of no use to me and an option to remove them like the other 5 wms servers would be great.

Also will you ever get a chance to add a nice feature to the software for GPS satellite tracking which will color code the sats and show which ones are in a range and which aren't? Something similar to WinFast Navigator which is really nice to track sats. With something like this that can pop up over the Aerial maps would give the best of both worlds.

It's weird because I am getting time outs on Both, Even FAR out tiles are not loading like the server isn't there? When viewing half the country something should load.lol so it shouldnt be just my area.

I do have my old maps from 2011 but updating to 2013 would have been nice, every 2 years they update the aerials here. Google Maps is already showing the updated aerials.

I am using the 3.81 and I can't seem to download ANY aerial maps. Are the servers acting up or something? I can download Topo maps but not any of the Aerials, they just time out. Is there a new aerial server now? I tried both Open Aerial and Color.

Feature Requests / Touchscreen Draw points?

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible in the future to have the ability to draw on the maps in topofusion? You know the feature in most touchscreen and tablet PCs where you can take the pen and draw a line or circle, X, etc.

This could be very useful in marking certain areas or search or a fast way to track locations.

P.S. Still waiting on those Colored NavSats for the Top Bar, it would be nice to know signal strength of available satellites. An a download batch option for MYtopo would be nice if possible, right now you have to look at the area to download, only problem is when you get closer tilesets the amount of time it takes.

My god, I never knew about that ability to redownload! It also explains why I would lose some tiles when batch downloading, I must have clicked it and unloaded it! Thanks for the help, though it was meant for someone else!

I love this software, Now all I need is Sat strength and color coded icons on the menu bar and I will be set.

Right now #3 is 3D which is great but maybe 8 and 9 can be used for color and MyTopo toggle. I could really use that feature for the tablets.

I have the same problem Scott, but mine happened when I was just starting to download new aerials that seem to have been updated in my area. It mentioned something about resizing and gave me the same module error.

I have never had that issue before.

Fixed is fine, if you make it fixed that those 2 numbers also equal Zoom in and out that would work also. I dont have to have Keymapping if its too complicated, I just need Zoom in and Out for the Keypad because of the way Tablets are.

True, but mapping 2 keys for the zoom would be great. Already pg up and down do that so 2 and 0 would work for Tablets otherwise all Tablets that are rugged would have issues with the Zoom.

I looked for software and none of it connects to using your software, its mainly for windows functions. No keymapping is fine as long as the zoom can have another alternate mapped number while still keeping the pg up and pg down.

Hi,

I think a nice feature if possible would be a Key Mapping that can be Customizable.

I have a Tablet PC besides a Laptop and the Tablet has Arrow keys and Numeric Keys and that is it, and while you can use the pen to pan and zoom, it would be nice to ADD a key to a specific function. Not where you have to change the original keys, but at Alternate setting.

I would like to see Keymaping for Zoom and Tile prefrences like Color or MyTopo viewing. Basically I REALLY need the Zoom in and Out if I could map to lets say 1 and 4 then I could zoom in and out without using the pen and save time as the Arrow keys already move left and right. Also I would like to See mapping for Elevation 3D and Over or Grids toggle.

Hope this is possible,


Also I hope you still plan to add Satelite tracking for Signal Stength and Bars like I suggested similar to WinFast Navigator?

He is right Northern Idaho same thing, all the tiles are 2004 and some near the clearwater forest are 2005 at the latest.

If there is a server with later color aerial would be nice to know. Some areas have no trees at all because of logging and look totally different than what was. Though I hate to download 50gb of Data again. lol

Ok I look foward to testing it. The onboard GPS for the CF-28 is either a Rockwell or Sony 12ch GPS. It pretty high quality given that CF-29s when new ran for about $6,000 for the model I have. The GPS to replace costs $300.

But it doesnt have an ACTIVE antenna and that could be the cause. Active provides better connection, but less signal. Whereas the internal one I have has less connection but stronger signals. lol

I think its the Moving to the meridian thing where there are no maps, once you fix the software from doing that and staying at last known coord. when losing signal should be fine.

I am REALLY looking forward to your number of Sats, their Number, and signal strength. Where you able to make it a bar graph on signal strenth?

As for the Live tracking I AM using 3.34beta and it doesnt have a minimize button?

Hi,

I was out again and I think you may be right it could be with the GPS loses signal that the Software is defaulting to the another location. If you can disable this I could TEST it and see if that fixes the issue?

Also more important to me is the Sats number and their signal strength if that could be added to the testing Beta. As for the minimize option on the live tracking box, I found what you meant it is the X to close, and then you can go through the Live tracking tab to reopen.

My Idea of Minimize was a little different similar to Windows method of it hiding in the tab or the bottom of the software window similar to how I can HIDE the GIS info at the bottom.

Any ETA on when you can get those Sats added to your software so I CAN see what coverage I am getting?

No I dont think so, atleast its never been discussed. I was hoping for a plugin that allows TF into Google Maps which has more upto date Aerial Photos.

Though I WOULD be glad for the Fix I need and the ability to see HOW many sats I am connected to and what Strength are they at.

Landsat wouldnt work none of them work or are visible. If that helps. And this problem only seems to happen when moving and using live tracking.

I have zoomed out and didnt have Landsat which I have the entire world of. So....... Try doing it while in the car you will see. '>

The Location Icon showing where I was last doesnt move only the maps disappear. It happens and happens often and it doesnt matter which version from the latest to previous version they all do the same thing when live tracking and then losing sats it shows No maps. If you Exit out of the program when it does that you want have Maps period! Doesnt show any of them. then you need to do a Reinstall, sometimes the replacing of the INI file helps and sometimes its not enough. There is a bug in the software and I can duplicate with ease. You really need to make sure the sats are blocked not removing the gps etc. You also have to be moving I dont know how fast you need to be but I would guess atleast 10-15miles per hour. Not sure on that one.

Maybe the GPS you are using doesnt get Blocked enough? Alot of the USB ones are Active GPS antennas and not passive, the ones on the CF models are Passive antennas making it easier to block the Sats by Puting my hand over the area where the Antenna is. The software basically BLANKS OUT, It doesnt move me, as the Live tracking stays in the same spot and when the Maps appear again right where the Icon was.

So that is why I seriously doubt the moving to a non downloaded area, I have seen this happen already when trying to live track with a GPS that isnt connected fully with the sats. This is different, and complete blank out by the software which is really weird and dangerous under certain instances.

I have only brought a FEW bugs to your attention over the few years I have had this software, but ALL the bugs I did give you were real, and you were able to find a fix. Remember the one on the map overlays? I believe they are posted somewhere here on the forums. :-)

anyway, I hope you can duplicate this because it blanks out pretty bad and it takes a while if the sats are down and I am without maps without a reinstall of the INI or the program itself. Thats only of course if I stop the program while its doing that, if I dont and just leave it the maps come back with the sats. though its an assumption on the sats as I have no way of knowing HOW many are connected while using the program or signal strenth of them.

BTW its a good idea to add the fix for moving to the wrong location anyway as it would be a nice feature. But this other issue I am having I think is something else. Dont forget I will be VERY happy also with Number or Sats and Signal Strength of the Sats in some sort of Overlay as well as the LIVE TRACKING BOX to be Hidden instead of stuck on the map screen.

well when it cuts out on the maps it stays in the SAME position so its not going to Africa or something. Its just the Maps disappear. I am surprised you cant duplicate it? Well maybe that adjustment will help I hope so as its better to have the maps stay than not. I am using the Stock GPS in the CF-29 laptop/ BTW I stated this has to be done While "Moving" and live tracking so if you try use your car and then Block the GPS while Driving so it loses signal completely, then I think you might see the problem.

Can you add something similar to the WINFAST NAVIGATOR? It not only shows Signal Strength but also the number of satellites. Somethings that could be Clicked to allow an Overlay would be nice as well as the Live tracking box to be made Hidden if you can to allow maximum Map viewing while Driving. Try Winfast Navigator when you get a chance its a simple program but the Sat tracking is very nice to have.

Yes but thats not the worse problem, the REAL issue is when the GPS loses its sats while doing live tracking it goes to White "Download" maps sections as if none have been loaded. Then when the sats connect it shows the maps again. this can be duplicated by Live tracking and then cover your GPS so that way you can duplicate the problem., its EASY to duplicate this one.

As for the Panning and losing the Maps I dont know why it didnt do it with you, have you tried to do it several times in a ROW? Because it happened after a couple tries for me.

Also can you add a feature to show HOW many Sats are connected to the GPS in the software when live tracking? It would be nice if it would be on the Map windows somewhere like a overlay window?

Also when the maps go black if you Exit the program your stuck with no maps for some reason.

No you Misunderstand what I am saying it doesnt show me in another area its that my MAP data disappears and the Download squares appear as if I NEVER downloaded Map data. On the Dragging it would be by Mouse or Touchscreen.

But when GPS loses ALL the sats is when the Maps just go white with the download text on them,. Just like when you first use TF and you need to download all the maps. Once the GPS sats are back it SHOWS the maps again. The spot never moves. It has to do it with others as it did this with the external GPS also. its all related to the software and Live tracking. Its pretty bad to the Point if it cant get fixed I may need to use another software. Bad thing about it is IF you close TF while its Blank with the download texts squares it will stay that way and corrupt the INI file.

Like I said I almost went over the cliff messing with the software and these glitches.

Hi,

I found a bad glitch thats in the previous builds and the newer ones. Its where you use LIVE tracking and when you Try to move the map when its set to center position on tracking the Maps all turn into WHITE squares with the download icon on them.

Also the maps do this EVERYTIME the GPS loses all the sats, it stays this way until it gets the sats again, this itself wouldnt be too bad but in the meantime you CANT see your surounding map area! Plus IF you exit this way your Stuck. And then have to uninstall and delete the INI file. I think this needs to be fixed it did this to me 20 times while driving and 6 times I had to do the reinstall. I almost went over a cliff playing with the software that shouldnt have done this.

Also Are you going to add the Sats that are in range and how many are connected like WinNavigator has? Reason being the only time I know if its connected or not is IF it tracks or doesnt give me the white download squares.

Hi,

I noticed Fugawi has a Google Earth Plug-in, which allows them to show their software somewhat in googleearth and have split views and even overlays. I was thinking TF is much better, and could have a feature like this which would allot GPS linking and terraserver maps to Google earth which has newer color maps.

Anyway its an idea that I think would improve the program.

Hello,

This is a small Wishlist that I hope can be in the next beta and then next version.

1. TF to work with my Internal CF-29 GPS. (You already know the issue on this one) Non initializing unless though MS roads and trips. If this helps the GPS is not an ACTIVE its a Passive Antenna.

2. Having the Program Show how many Satellites are connected to the GPS and What thier Strength is. Showing Orbit would ne nice. lol "WinFast Navigator" softwsare does this something like this added to TF as an overlay or Box would be nice.

3. The ABility of the TF software to AUTO find the Correct GPS on the com-port would be nice, its in MS roads and trips as is the Sat tracking both nice features.

4. The Ability to Have the Maps when zooming in and out to go straight to Aerial photos from LandSat photos, and earlier version of TF did this now it doesnt.

5. A selectable feature maybe telling which next tile set to go to, so people that want landsat to topo can and those like me that want Landsat to Aerials can both have our ways?

6. The ability to remove from selection list the Tile we see right now there are URBAN etc and none of those are in my area of operation, so Are just in the way on the side scroll menu. a feature to select what is available from that menu would be nice. I think you know what I MEAN? I know about the tile visible setting this is something different.

7. Nothing serious but having a Button from GPS tracking would be nice next to the others like download tiles etc.

8. Small Bug thats been in all the TF versions is when tracking and saving record even when I remove the track when I GO back into the program to track a new track the thing start from the point I left off.

It helps having the feature because my GPS in internal and has no Lights to show its connected. Also I never know how many sats are in my area with TF where MS trips I do. It would be a really helpful addition to TF imo.

Hi,

I got my CF-29 and it has a stock GPS with it. I noticed I am having some issues with it. While it works with TF when activated it doesnt seem to initialize the GPS correctly.

Basically I try to see if its connecting and track position, but I sends me to Africa and never connects properly, YET when I use MS Roads & trips and connect the GPS with that problem its fine, then I can exit out of that program and use TF with No issues on Tracking.

I have tried version 3.12-23 and they all still have a problem

I have it set to the NMEA/Magellan Baud 4800 and Com3 which is the GPS setting com port.

Any Ideas, should I send the GPS drivers to you as they are the same for all CF-29 GPS units.

Basically its a minor glitch but still a pain when trying to connect, also MS Roads and trips shows the Sats connecting and how many which is nice to know I am even connecting a signal, it says if its recieved info, TF doesnt.

Please help if possible.

If anyone else has a CF-29 with internal GPS please Post.

Hi,

I was thinking while using MS trips that a nice feature they have the TF doesnt is it Tells when and how long the GPS has been connected and also it Shows How many Sats the GPS is detecting. That would be a nice little feature to add to the next version?

What do you think? Right now I cant tell how many sats I am connected to with TF which 3 are needed but 4 for speed.

Whats so special about this new feature in 3.26? I noticed you made some nice improvements since the last version I USED which was 3.18. lol

I have a CF-29 and its NOT the most Graphically super charged 3D laptop out there. ;-)

But its makes a good paper weight. lol

BTW any news if Teraserver is EVER going to upgrade their Aerials?

yes cancel the calibration doesnt seem to work, it might be glitch, nothing really important, just thought I would throw your way to look at. So there is no way to get to that Cached data from google on our harddrives? I noticed what you look at stays in a DAT file. ;-) Maybe we could import that data somehow? Thought would be wonderful. lol

Reason I ask if they are and there isnt another site iwth the same name I noticed some ares in my area have color photos but I cannot download them in TF? is tehre a reason why?

Is it because they are not Urban? Check out 83541 Idaho and you will see its Color for that city yet TF doesnt download the color but the BW?

landvoyage was the provider I guess for terraserver? Does TF need a slight upgrade?

Np Glad I can help. Any Idea if Teraserver will ever Upload new maps? I have a hard time with their site if it IS their site on Finding out if any Color aerials will be avialable for Idaho? Its a shame we have to use BW 1997 photos which not only are out of date but also sometimes hard to see on trails and such.

Hi,

Ok, I have duplicated this error by accident. I was removing ALL tiles except Color aerial photos and when I did that is gave me this runtime error I did this several times to see if it can be duplicated and it was, Now though after the 4th or 5th time its corrupted my INI file I guess as when I start TF I get the Error 383.

There must be some glitch with the color aerial photos and the software. Before when I got this error I dont think it was related to this so I have no idea how deep this bug goes.

I have 3.12 with a fresh install, But I use existing map data, so maybe its related? I use the old format not the new DX1 as Teraserver seems to be hanging lately on large downloads so I think I will stick to my bird in the hand. lol

BTW in order to close TF when this error happens on startup I have to use CTL+ALT+DEL otherwise the logo stays on the desktop.

Deleting the INI file fixed the error but it still happens when you uncheck all by the color aerial photos.

10 I have 10.7gb and really need to add to it, lol My problem is Terra sever Hangs and the delays over already downloading tiles is a shame as it slows and ties up the internet connection for HOURS.
