OS in the UK have the rights to the 50k 25k and even 10k mapping. No doubt it would take endless agreements and licences and money to use this data but those minor things aside could topofusion pull data from a local source.

I did a quick circuit which included stopping off to buy a newspaper.

The track implies I went past the shop and then came back then carried on.

Also when I turned a corner a similar thing the track shows I overshot crossed the road then retraced my steps and carried on on the correct route.

Is this "the continue in a straight line unless it I know otherwise" Garmin firmware trying to fill in where satellite lock has been lost?

Any thoughts.

If this is the case is the Garmin measurement going to be based on the distance it thinks it has gone?

Wow I am really impressed.

I'm sure someone has mentioned these before but:

As the logbook is so good can different categories be defined for different users / walking / driving to trail. Should I / can I create multiple logbooks then stats would be easier.

Second thing I must have an erroneous point in the walk as I am shown at a speed in excess of the laws off physics (for me anyway) short of opening the GPX file in GPSU and looking for the speed how can I spot the problem entry.

On the mapping coverage front I have found that http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/examples.html has European mapping. Is the source they use possible for you guys?

In Europe we feel a little left out!!

Thanks for the quick reply.

Where do other european users find mapping info.

Buying the hardware is the easy bit finding all the different ways to record it or display is the hard part.

The Garmin Forerunner (Garmin UK assured me could only be downloaded into their own software) requires a utility to offload the data. Garmin logbook does not allow any error correction. I might have a good sprint finish but 8432 miles an hour is out of my league.

Then a utility to clean up split the data into the form I need it then some way of displaying it.

In tandem with this a logbook type capability for tracking workout figures.

Hardware manufacturers don't seem to make software that matches the hardware. Like the Garmin logbook software. So to get a reasonable package you have to look elsewhere.

Is it possible to test the logbook feature? If this works with the Forerunner its just a question of the mapping coverage.

What do other European customers do.
