master checkbox for files
« on: January 28, 2010, 10:27:31 AM »
Hi Scott,

Sometimes (like when adding a user map) I don't want any waypoints or tracks on the map.
Would it be possible to add an "all" checkbox to the list of loaded files?
If checked then all loaded files appear; if checked and then unchecked no files appear.
If unchecked you could still pick and choose which files to appear.

Having a "master" check box would be easier than going down the list unchecking files.

Thanks,
_Charlie

Hi,

Have you tried the toggles on the toolbar that turn off display of all waypoints or all tracks?  Maybe that is enough flexibility for you?  A master toggle for both might make sense but it also may confuse the issue a little bit.

Let me know what you think and thanks for the feedback.

Wow, talk about "leaping before looking"!
I hadn't noticed those buttons before; there's no need to add "more confusion".
Those 2 buttons take care of my needs.

Hmmmmm, i wonder what else TopoFusion can do that I haven't noticed....

;^)

Thanks,
_Charlie

Yup, that's useful,  but I have to give a thumb's up to the OP's suggestion of an "ALL-ON" or "ALL-OFF" toggle for the loaded files. I would actually like to see this expanded to include "Unload All",  "Unload Selected"  or, for that matter, an "ALL"  option for any single file operation. Of course I'd like to see some safeguards built in like "You are about to unload File.GPX, are you sure?" But that will still speed things up a lot. I usually end up with a BUNCH of recent files loaded and it would be nice to be able to
(1) Select all
(2) Deselect a few
(3) Unload all selected

This is strictly an interface issue, not a function issue.  All of this is doable now - just one file at a time.

I would like to see a tree structure for the files.  As you travel from one area to another you can select or deselect files.

Yep, a tree structure would be a nice way to display the individual tracks within a file (which you need to access using File Properties right now).  Thanks for the request.
