3D to 2D terrain topo

Just a thought..   '<img'>
I use topofusion 3D alot when I am planning a hiking trip, but I find myself going over to maps.google.com to print the terrain option they have showing the topo gradiants with the relief shading for the map to take along.

I'll bet with all of your skills that you already have building the 3D view with DEM data, it would be the same knowledge needed to flatten the view back to 2D "terrain" with shading and clean topo gradiants...

maybe??

Yep, definitely doable.  The hurdle in this case is the lack of DEM caching system.

What needs to happen first is for downloaded DEM data to be tiled and stored in the maps.dat file.  Then we can pretty easily add this, and we sure hope to.

Thanks for the suggestion -- it gets us thinking about it.
