Problem with User Images on CF-28 Laptop
« on: January 29, 2007, 09:41:36 PM »
Hello,

I decided to add the images to my laptop which I did on my PC and found that on my CF-28 that I cannot see the Images. The photo icon shows whether I click on the photo tab or not and when I do it says photos on but No images like on my home PC.

I also tested this on the 3.0 Beta and it doesnt work, I was using the 83 version before. I think this needs to be fixed as right now the Photo feature doesnt work on the CF-28 1ghz laptops with Intel VC.

This is the first time I was able to test the photos on my laptop, they show fine on the PC, I even tried to manual add them to the laptop from the laptop and they just will not show the image in overlay, plus when you click on them it doesnt bring up the photo.

HELP. lol I use Google Photos to show areas that are cut down by the logging. since the BW photos are really out of date.

Hi,

OK, first, just to be clear, are you using PhotoFusion, or User Calibrated Maps?  I'm guessing you are trying to add photos via PhotoFusion, but sometimes it sounds like maps!?

You should try adding one of your jpegs as a user calibrated map -- to see if it comes up at all.  That will give some clues as to what's going on.

I think we've already been through this, but driver support is really critical for TopoFusion Pro.  I've seen two laptops of that era that needed specific drivers in order to work.

Sounds like the program is working OK, just not certain features like Photofusion.

If you could, please post a log file that resulted from trying to load photos. Make sure the photo toggle is on -- since the photo icons show in either case (they turn off if you turn waypoint display off).  Let it stew for a minute, trying to load photos, and then close it and post the log.

Does your computer slow down while it's trying to load the photos -- and if so, how many photos are you trying to view?

Ok I added a user map with NO issues showed up fine and was transparent. But Still no Photos. I tried doing only 1 Photo to add, using the waypoint method which I guess is photofusion? Didnt work still no Photo showing up. But I can add user custom photo maps, just no photos through the normal waypoint way.

doubt its a driver issue since I can add photos as user maps. I also am using the Latest Drivers for my VC for this Laptop and also using the directx9C that was required for the other other version.

I get NO error message just the little photo icons without the photos showing up, There is nothing to click to activate them like it should. There must be a glitch somewhere in the software since I can add User Map photos and it shows up opaque or Transparent. Whats your take on all this, as I would rather use the photo feature, the user maps are nice but hard to calibrate atleast using Google pics. lol

Here is the Log file if this Helps.

Yeah -- good point, adding a photo by waypoint isn't really PhotoFusion even though I think about it that way.

And you are sure the photo toggle is on?  I looked through the code and every spot it can fail has an output to the debug log as to what went wrong.

Since I don't see any error message in the log I'm kind of at a loss as to what could be going on.

I just double checked this feature (user maps as well) on two older laptops (one an older Intel video chipset) and it seemed fine.

Maybe try again with the log file -- making sure photo toggle is on, and close the program so everything gets written out to the log?

I'll do it again, but YES it was turned on and off MANY times. Like I said the feature doesnt work on any of the newer versions including 3.0. I can add user maps photos, but adding my waypoint photos show nothing, I do get Names if I turn the button off and when I turn it on I get nothing but the photo icons.

I'll post the log file again, like I said I had NO ERROR or Error logs. just doesnt work.

OK, sorry for giving you the go 'round, just checking all the possibilities before I dig deeper into it.

I don't expect any error messages that you see, but I would expect something in the log from it trying to load pictures.  It's possible I missed something.

Thanks for the patience as always.

ok I tested again and same Log file except at the end it says

Directx shutdown, resources freed. Frames = 60

Here are the photos of the picture with the button unclicked and then clicked. I also waited a while and you can see it was a new photo I added and only one, except no photo showing.

The Third photo is showing the photo added as a user map transparent.

Also I included the error message I get with now BOTH my laptop and Home PC with 3.0beta on Adjusting User MAPS. You can see the picture of the error and how it ask to send.

Since its doing on both PCs I would say something is bugged with calibrating the user maps.

OK, thanks for the thorough report.

One thing is definitely cleared up -- that's not our crash reporter dialog -- that's the Microsoft one.  So we won't be getting any of those emails.  '<img'>

I will see if I can find anything for both of the problems.

For the user map one, it gives that error message when you just grab one of the calibration points and move it around, correct?  (Not just by switching to calibration / select point mode)?

Your right I missed that one. sorry, But still the message happens on both my laptop and Home PC,  and both are two different animals. lol

Exactly when I grab to move the calibration points it crashes.
