Beta 4.22 - map loading
« on: July 06, 2011, 05:51:16 PM »
I loaded the new 4.22 and my map loading seems to have gone crazy. I am getting a message about firewalls or proxy server being the problem. Checked both, seem OK. Rebooted, same problems. Went back to beta 4.12 and tiles still having trouble loading. Installed 4.22 again, still having problems loading tiles. Tried disabling/enabling Internet map loading with no luck. It now seems that TF just doesn't want to work anymore.

Hmm, I think it may just be bad timing with some server issues.  What tiles are you trying to download?  I'm seeing only a few tiles load and then error message with the color aerial set.  But others seem to be OK to me.

Trying to use any color map and I now get the "can not" load message and it shuts off Internet access. I suspect that it is a problem I can not get rid of with a goback to older version. Tried restoring TF folder from my backup and it wouldn't even load after the restore. Tried removing Map*.Dat files to no avail
Beginning to think I should stay away from FT betas.......

I don't think it's an issue with the beta -- the color server is a little flakey at times, I think that is all it is.  I wouldn't read anything else into it than that.

Open Aerials seems to be more reliable and in many cases is the exact same imagery, by the way.  I wouldn't try any uninstalling or restoring of maps.dat files.

I do really appreciate the feedback -- always good to hear when there are problems.

Haven't had this much problems with "color" tiles since I can remember - aerials are pretty old, so I use color. Even Topos are loading very slow now (I brought back my map*.dat files)

If it's a partial tile (looks like it is) that's just what the server is giving.  Might change later on, esp if they are doing maintenance or something on it.  Try the open aerials, maybe that set is stitched together a little more cleanly?

Color aerials seem to be loading quickly for me today.  I definitely saw some server hiccups over the weekend though.  Sorry 'bout that.

Happy for you, but my color aerials still do not come out correctly - white box, odd colors - is there something wrong with the Florida color aerials - give that a try......GPX file attached........

Have you tried using the reload maps tool to re-grab some of the erroneous tiles?  I am getting good tiles in that area right now.

On the tool bar, it looks like a little recycle symbol with a red and blue arrow.  Click on tiles individually to reload them.

My god, I never knew about that ability to redownload! It also explains why I would lose some tiles when batch downloading, I must have clicked it and unloaded it! Thanks for the help, though it was meant for someone else!

I love this software, Now all I need is Sat strength and color coded icons on the menu bar and I will be set.
