Anyone own TOPO!?
« on: March 08, 2004, 10:16:19 AM »
In the new climbing analysis dialog, we're trying to reverse engineer the algorithms used by major topo programs to compute total climbing numbers.  We've got Maptech down and are close to TopoUSA, but we don't have a copy of Topo! to work with.

If anyone could help us out, we'd appreciate it.  Trying to recreate the numbers using different custom settings would be great--if you have a GPS track (hopefully more than one) in both Topo! and TopoFusion formats.

Any ideas about what these (or other) programs might be doing, other than the options we've already included, are also welcome.  I realize this is an issue not everyone cares about, but it is one we're interested it.

Thanks for the offer, Jon.  The problem is that I don't have any way to transfer data between Topo! and GPX.  So I don't really have any files to test both with.

Someone else has offered to let us borrow their copy, so I think we are covered.

Actually though, what state(s) do you have?
