Wanting to merge tracks
« on: January 15, 2007, 10:14:11 PM »
When I download the active log from my Garmin it may be broken into multiple tracks (from signal loss?).  Topofusion gives the option to merge tracks into one file which I do since the trip was continuous.

I have found that Garmin will save the active log onto the data card (MicroSD).  {That data preserves the time unlike the save into the built-in memory (loses time).}   I can then insert the card into a USB card interface and copy the log to the PC.

Unfortunately the log is divided into tracks just as it was when Topofusion retrieved the active log via USB.  How can I merge the tracks in the copied log?

Yep, tracks get broken up any time you turn the unit on/off, or when you lose signal.  It's unfortunate that the GPX files saved on the MicroSD card are not already merged, although if they were it would constitute a loss of data.  Sometimes it's very useful to see breaks in the track.

Anyway, to merge just use the profile(slash merge) tool.  Click the first segment, hold down shift and click each successive segment.  When you are all done right click on the map and choose "save as..".
