TFP => gpx => GE: no tracks??
« on: August 02, 2007, 08:03:08 AM »
I'm using TFP to download waypoints/tracks from my GPS60, then I save them as GPX and import into GoogleEarth (to get terrain elevation data).  However, when I open the GPX in GE, all it shows is the waypoints, not the tracks!!!  The data list on the left shows waypoints and tracks both checked, but no tracks are displayed.  Am I doing something wrong??

TFP => gpx => GE: no tracks??

I just tried to open GPX files in my copy of GE and it didn't work for me either.  It's just a bug on their side, plain and simple.  The GPX files generated by TF pass all tests and are 100% valid.

I updated to the latest version of Google Earth and now GPX files (both tracks and waypoints) are loading just fine.

Another option would be to use TF to save to .kml rather than .GPX, in case you don't want to update GE.

Hiya!!
Yeah, I noticed that saving to kml worked, also, after I'd already sent my previous message off and couldn't modify it!!  So that solution will work fine for me, until you can get around to eventually putting general elevation data into TFP!!  (ducking quickly under the table to avoid a THWACK!!)   ':p'

However, if there's a newer version of GE out, I might as well try it as well....
