I am having problems loading a list of coordinates which were sent to me from a client. First, I converted them from an excell file to a text file like the example in the help area yet I cannot get them to load correctly. the file that is set up with lat/long does not seem to have a place to load when I go to "open a file", and the file that is set up with utm coordinates will load the waypoints but it thinks that they are a track rather than a set of waypoints. when i go to display this set of utms from norhern minnesota they show up as a line stretching from quebec to bc. Can you help me? |
When you load a ".txt" file it can be either UTM or Lat/Lon. The software will detect which it is and load it appropriately.
If the points are included between "BEGIN LINE" and "END" they will be treated as a track, not a set of waypoints.
If you want them to come out as waypoints, each point needs to be between a "BEGIN SYMBOL" and "END".
Another way to get around this is to right click on the file (or a track in the file) and go to File Properties. Select the "track points" tab, then right click on each point and choose "Convert track point to waypoint."
