Creating profile not from track
« on: April 23, 2006, 07:55:41 PM »
Is there a way to create a profile of a particular road without going to that road and using my GPS receiver to create a track, downloading that and looking at the profile. That is, I would like to somehow mark a section of road right on the map and somehow be able to create a profile from that.

Yep.  Just use the draw track tool (pencil) to trace it out (the more points the better, don't just do major turns).  After you save the track (right click and do save as..), it won't have 3D data, but if you go to Climbing Analysis and choose the newly saved file you can do "add elevations to track."

Hope that helps.
