Aerial maps not downloading
« on: September 10, 2007, 06:25:13 PM »
Hi everyone.

I'm really new at this but it seems I cannot download any aerial imagery here : N45.57111 W69.39444. I thought terra-US covered all states in their finest details....One of the reason why I chose Topofusion with batch download '<img'>

Are the imagery simply non-existent ?!

Please let me know

Alan

Hi,

Central Maine, right?

If you switch to the Aerial 64M tileset and pan around you can see that most of the state is covered, but a few fingers, including the coordinates you specified, have missing maps.

95% of the country is covered by aerials, but that 5% can be pretty annoying sometimes.  Unfortunately there's not much we can do about it.

Sometimes they do update areas and add imagery, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thanks for your fast reply.

Is there any way to have an aerial for this location (through some sort of paid membership or something) ?

Thanks

Alan

Not directly through the program, but you could purchase aerial photos (individual, large scale ones) and use the "user calibrated maps" function to add the images to TopoFusion.

See:

OK but (I realise this may not be the place to ask but you seem to know) where do I get such an imagery. Haven't been able to find out yet  '<img'>

One place is the "other" Terraserver:

http://www.terraserver.com

They've got some high resolution aerials for sale (to download).

Another is http://www.topozone.com.

There are others, as well.  Have a google search or two.

That's odd.  How about google earth?  If you need to get an image in, you could always do a screen grab to .jpeg, then import that to TopoFusion as a user map.

Same thing on google earth. There's simply no imagery available to the level of details I want for this particular area (while there is for the rest of the state). That's why I concluded it didn't exist. But maybe I'm wrong  ':p'
