Slight bug with gps live tracking and software
« on: October 22, 2006, 06:17:54 PM »
Hello,

I was in the field and I found that if I zoomed in to 1 meter too fast or the same with Zooming out there was a 40-50% chance that it would lock up. The little running guy would stay there even though the GPS was still transmitting information. I would have to EXIT the software then RESTART then activate live tracking again. I did try to click off live tracking and then click on but it would still stay frozen. The only thing that worked was exiting the software.

I am only reporting this as I think its some small bug, as it doesnt do it 100% of the time, but when it does its locked on that feature.
I noticed it tended to do it when I zoomed in but again its random as sometimes it didnt do it. But it wasnt the GPS as it had a constant strong signal on a clear day. I use a Standard Etrex GPS.

Great software, I really do love it!

That's interesting.  v2.98, right?

Does the display freeze, or just the position being received from the GPS?  That is, if you turn off live tracking, is everything else still working?

Just trying to determine if it's a general TF bug, or something specific to the live tracking stuff.

Thanks.

Hi, no 2.97 thats what amazed me. It was just the live tracking section I could move around and click what I wanted but if I tried to enable or diable live tracking it did nothing to get the little guy moving again. I had to exist the software then restart and then activate the live tracking and then it would work as normal. On my 5 hours trip it ddi this about 3-4 times, Later I was just careful to zoom in Slowly and didnt switch between maps too often. I would says its a Live tracking bug.

I cant run 2.98 on my laptop because of the ocx error.
