Garmin 301 and Heart Rate
« on: May 21, 2006, 01:20:30 PM »
What is the future of Heart Rate data in Topofusion (if any)?  I see that Motion Based will accept and report on HR data from the Forerunner 301.Agua Dulce

NB The site is so slow every time I check it!

I would like to include HR data in Topofusion.  Ideas: Another data field in playback, summary column, input to difficulty/effort, or "pulse" the rider in playback.

A related question is there a GPX standard for HR data?
When I export the MB data to GPX there is no HRM data in the file (did I miss it?).

GPX is important to me because I have a Polar HRM and a Garmin GPS so my problem is to merge the two into a GPX file (sync on time) and pass it on to Topofusion.  (If you accelerate the development beat MB at their own game - they shun Polar)

Well, I have been using a Forerunner 305 lately, so HR support is more likely to happen than ever.  Time is tight for the next couple weeks, but I plan on taking a serious look at what can realistically be done in TopoFusion with HR data.

Agreed that we'll need a display for it on playback.  Pulsing might be pretty cool.

Re: GPX.  There is not standard way to store it.  This is one thing that's stopped me from adding support since that's sort of step 1.  So it'll have to be a TF extension, which is OK.

Stay tuned...

I am sure to be tuned in.   I hope you take take data exported from Polar Precision SW or directly from the HRM (IR/USB).  BTW On browsing Polar I see that they have a developer's kit.   '<img'>
