Title: USGS Topo tile sets not downloading
Post by: DogFleazJR on July 13, 2015, 07:03:32 PM
I can't get any of the USGS Topo tile sets (2M, 4M, 8M ect) to download.  Topofusion attempts to connect to the server then disables downloading.  I can download other tilesets including Mytopo and USTopo.

i'm working over the Adirondack Park, so I know the tile sets are there.

Anyone else having this problem or suggestion how to get the server reconnected?

thanks,

k

Having same problem even after upgrading to version 5.11 for "new" areas that require downloading of tiles. Still able to view tiles from areas I downloaded in the past.

Hey everyone,

It looks like we are in the middle of an extended outage of MSRmaps.com.

You can check the status by going direct to: http://msrmaps.com/

I recommend using myTopo, TopoUS or openCycleMap in the meantime.

Thanks for the patience.

The USGS Topos are back on line, have been for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the post!  They are still a bit intermittent at times, but yes, seem to be mostly online.

Unfortunately, MyTopo, OpenStreet and Open Cycle aren't rectified for use in Canada or Alaska.  There's marked skewing

That's true, in high latitudes there is horizontal distortion.  Things still work, and the rest of the software is functional along with the skewing, but it isn't ideal.  Southern Canada can be usable, but it's bad up in AK.

I'm hopeful we can move to a full mercator projection in TF and take care of this issue in the future.

Thanks for the post.
