Trouble Joining Tracks
« on: July 12, 2016, 04:17:11 PM »
I downloaded a track from my GPS and wanted to separate the tracks and delete other parts, which I carefully did. However, even though with careful deletion, I noticed part of the track I had kept got broken into several pieces, so I used the join tracks tool to join them again and I got chaos. Sometimes it looks as if they join and I can see the tracks connected. When I go to join another section, the previous joint disappears. Other times I go to join the segments and it suddenly joins with another track almost a kilometer away on another part of the map. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi,

A tutorial for this is long overdue from me!

The key thing is to take care as to the direction each track is going.  Particularly the direction of the first track you click on.  Make sure (using the profile tool that comes up) that it's in the direction you want, otherwise flip it.  Then as you click in succession it should behave much better.  You can always flip the last segment added to see if that fixes the odd joins.

Hope that helps!

Thank you! I think this is fixing some of the issues I was having.....still working on it in between other work, so slow going right now. I will update again later.
