Joining tracks that are in opposite directions.
« on: February 08, 2016, 02:50:25 PM »
I sometimes do a GPS tracking of a section of trail going in ONE direction and then I do the adjacent section while going in the other direction. When I try to join them the one tries to understandably join all the way AROUND to the tail of the OTHER. What I would LIKE to do is join the tracks head to head so that I don't have this untraveled segment that is simply the connection between the front of the first and the rear of the second. I hope I am making this clear! LOL

Thank you,
George

Hi George,

Thanks for the post.  This is something a lot of folks run into.

You can do exactly what you want to do (reverse as you merge) using TopoFusion.  You just need to dig into the right click menu.  Once you add a segment to your merged track, right click anywhere on the map to get the menu to come up.  You can then reverse the last segment added to match up the way you want.  The key is to get the first segment you click on going the direction you want, then reverse any subsequent segments afterward, as you go.

Hope that helps, if it's not clear what I mean, don't hesitate to ask more questions!
