Topofusion hangs at roads-large.gpx
« on: June 07, 2010, 09:11:14 PM »
I have TopoFusion Pro v3.973 and it hangs on load at the roads-large.gpx file.  This seems to have started with v3.971.  I upgraded to 3.973 thinking that would solve the issue but it hasn't.  Any ideas?
Thank you!

It is probably done with roads-large and locking up for some other reason.

You could try deleting roads-large first though.  It should be in your default GPX directory under the GIS subdirectory.

Otherwise, you may try resetting your TopoFusion settings.  You can do this by deleting or renaming the TopoFusion.ini file.  If you've had the software for a while the file will be in c:\program files\topofusion.  Otherwise it is in:

C:\Documents and Settings\{YOUR USER NAME}\Local Settings\Application Data\TopoFusion

Let us know if that helps or not.

I am running on a recent installment of Windows 7.  I have a folder called My TopoFusion Files in My Documents.  I renamed the GIS dir to temp-GIS.  That didn't help.  I can't find a topofusion.ini file.  Should I re-install?
Thanks,

Did you look in the directory I pointed to above?  Is there a Documents and Settings in W7?

Reinstalling will not overwrite the .ini file.  So you need to find it and move it somewhere else.

The GIS folder is in Documents > My TopoFusion Files.  That's the only one on my computer.  There is no topofusion.ini file.  I also looked in Program Files (x86) > TopoFusion, where TopoFusion.exe is located.  Didn't see anything there.  I have "Show hidden files" on.

The TopoFusion.ini file should be here:

C:\Documents and Settings\{YOUR USER NAME}\Local Settings\Application Data\TopoFusion

Not in the GIS directory.  Sorry for the confusion.

If you are trying a search for "TopoFusion" it likely will not come up with that directory.  You'll need to navigate there manually.

Sorry.  I didn't see that folder in the beginning, as it was hidden.  And, in Windows 7, you can't access that folder directly.  Instead, I have discovered, that you have to go to C:\Users\{Your Name}\AppData\Local\TopoFusion.  That is where the TopoFusion.ini file is for me and I can actually get to it.  I renamed it and that did the trick!  Thank you!
I noticed the file after roads-large.gpx in the .ini file was wilderness.gpx.

Hey Guy -- not sure if this will help. I was having the exact same problem. I disabled my virus/firewall (in my case Trend), reinstalled Topofusion, and for whatever reason I haven't had a hitch since then.

If nothing else is working, it might be worth it to shut down your virus check/firewall and see if that is the issue.
