Hi,
Of late TF has begun crashing while downloading tracks from GPS. On the download dialog, the progress bar moves across and gets to the end before the track finished downloading, then the save window comes up, all the while the track continues downloading in the background. At a random point TF crashes, and when I restart it the track isn't available.
Thinking that TF had gotten corrupted somehow, I downloaded the most recent version, but it's still doing it.
Help?

Hey Dave,
Sorry about the issue -- and the late response. Looks like I am not getting notifications here for some reason.
What GPS are you using?
It's hard to imagine what could be corrupted that would cause that, but I've never heard of that issue before either. You could try going to default settings by deleting your .ini file.
To reset back to default settings, first close TopoFusion. Then delete (or rename to keep a backup) the file TopoFusion.ini. It should be here:
C:\Documents and Settings\*Your USER NAME*\Local Settings\Application Data\TopoFusion\TopoFusion.ini
Or for older installs:
C:\Program Files\TopoFusion\TopoFusion.ini
Let us know how it goes. Thx.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the reply :) , not fussed about the lateness, I can tolerate the problem for a bit and save the tracks to the GPS memory for later download, it's not like I'm getting out much lately anyway. I'm using a Magellan Meridian Gold. I thought that it was a weird problem too, as it was working fine over several versions then suddenly stopped. I forgot to mention before that it only seems to do it on longer tracks.
I'll try the suggested fix and let you know how it goes.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Scott,
I can't find the ini file. I tried using search but still couldn't find it.
I'm using Windows 7, does that make a difference?

Try downloading the latest release -- you'll get a start menu shortcut that will reset your setting for you. Just make sure TF is closed when you run it.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi Scott,
Just finished downloading the new version, and doing the reset. Tried downloading a track, TF asked me to save it partway through, and crashed when it finished downloading.

Well, shoot. I will have to have another look at it. Thanks for following up and trying it.

I am suffering from the same problem but i did not get any perfect solution from your suggestion.
I am unable to find .ini file in the location that you given.

Mark,
Did you download the current version? The link in the TopoFusion start menu will do the same thing to reset your TF settings to default. It saves the step of trying to find the .INI file.
Sounds like I need to take a close look at this.

Scott,
Thank you for your quick respond.
I downloaded the latest version. Now i will try to do whatever you have suggested. I will let you know what happens?

Similar subject was being discussed at yahoo answers last week. I can post the link if needed.

Please, post the link if you still have it.
Thanks.
