Projection of Color, Landsat, and MyTopo in Alaska
« on: August 29, 2010, 03:07:47 AM »
When I look at the regular topos and aerial imagery (bw), they both appear to be vertical projections.

However, the color, landsat, and mytopo all appear skewed like an oblique view.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? or are there issues in Alaska? (frequently are)

Thanks.

The tilesets you listed are indeed in a different projection, and the horizontal stretching is more noticeable at the closer to the poles you are.  So, yep, in AK it is VERY apparent.

So, you aren't doing anything wrong.

Likely in the future TF will switch to mercator projection for those maps, which should help in AK.  But it won't be any time too soon.
