Printing maps with UTM grid
« on: April 08, 2013, 09:12:33 PM »
I'm trying to print some maps with UTM grind overlay and I can't seem to get it to scale correctly. I used Ctrl + or - to get the scale to match but as you can see it doesn't match up with a grid tool. Also the scale at the bottom does not appear to be correct as it shows 600m but spans more like 1100m.

see attachments
UTMgrigmap2 is printed from file print menu
utmgridmap is printed from file, export menu

both have rectangular UTM grids

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry about the delayed response.

Due to the projection of many of the map types, the UTM grid boxes will not be square.  That's what you're seeing.  We'd have to distort the maps into UTM projection in order for them to be square.

If you use the old style Topo maps, the grid boxes will be square and your tool should work.

Hope that helps some.

That works! I found that scale 1:2:44  & Topo 2M  puts it spot on. Great program & support!
