I'm having trouble downloading Color Aerial and B&W Aerial, so I switched to Open Aerial.
The tiles downloaded fine, but as soon as I enable 3D mode, all the tiles revert to the "Downloading" checkmark texture, and it never changes. When I flip 3D mode off, the Open Aerial images come back.
I'm using 4.65

Hi,
Couple things. One is that in 3d mode the resolution of the texture (map) on the model increases, so you may see download tiles if the higher resolution tiles for your current tileset have not yet been downloaded yet. Check this by zooming in, in 2d mode. See if the tiles download, or are there.
I'm seeing fast download from open aerial (in my area, anyway - where are you looking?). Good downloads from color, and B/W seems to be down or not responding at the moment.
Hope that helps some....

You're right that zooming in more in 2D mode also results in the tileset needing to download.
I'm looking at the Wind River range of Wyoming.
Open Aerial seems to download pretty fast when looking around Detroit, though. Are there localized issues with certain geographic locations?
-
Yes, especially with Open Aerial there can be localized issues / outages. Any better luck today? If not I will try the Wind Rivers (beautiful...) and see if I can reproduce.

I'm having trouble with elevation data not being downloaded when I moved to a new region (39.36508° N 117.75908° W). For the last couple of days, the status bar says "Elevation=downloading....". Elevations are loaded for other regions I use more frequently. Is there a way to force downloading of the DEM data, or to check on whether it's a server problem?
This seems to be happening for all tile sets. I can see various map typess, some slower to load than others. Just no elevations or 3Dcapability.
Thanks!

Looks like right now the elevation (and landsat) server is down and not responding:
Elevation won't download until this page loads:

They are likely upgrading hardware or dealing with some other server issue. I will post further updated on the announcements forum if it does not resolve itself soon.
Thanks for the patience.

Looks like the server is back online. Give it another try and let me know if you're still having issues.
Thanks.

Thanks. The elevation server came back up yesterday afternoon, just after your post...
A suggestion: It would be great to have an (semi?)automated status report for the various maps/servers on the topofusion website. That would allow users to distinguish between a server problem and a local problem.

Thanks a great idea. An automatically updated one might even be possible.
