GPX editor
« on: October 12, 2010, 02:34:04 PM »
Hi,
I'm looking for a GPX editor, anyone who knows a good one? I want to adjust the time in a GPX track according to a handicap system. I'm analyzing a sailboat race with the topofusion SW. The formula is corrected time = start time + handicap factor*(actual time - start time). Each track contains approx 700 rows; manual correction of 700 rows for each of 5 boats is not a solution. It will be possible to see the real standing during the race after this "manipulation". I've tried the SW 'GPX Editor 1.3.46.1380' but this SW allows just edition point by pont.
Best regards  Kent

Hmm, I don't know of any software that lets you do this directly.  I could add something to TF to do what you're looking for, if you are game for a little custom programming.  Drop me an email at smorris@topofusion.com.

I there a way to edit down or extract a portion of a track. In the past I just deleted all the track points I didn't need, but now I have a shape file with 2000mi + of tracks & I need about 20 individual trails extracted to GPXs

You can use the merge tool to choose a single track and then right click and save it out into a new file.  Sounds like you might have to do that 20 times though... :)

Or you can click on all 20, save, then go back in and cut up the connecting line segments.  Not as clean though...

Thanks Scott I got it. Looks like I missed the 'edit points (select box)' from the edit bar. That & 'save as' got me down to only 1/2 a days work.
We'll soon have all the White Mtns trails & a plug for TopoFusion on the TRACKS web page.  https://sites.google.com/site/tracksgpxdownload/
