Hello all - I am on V3.85. I still have large problems with "holes" in the color maps. Scott, can you summarize the issues of application version, (old) data versions/types/directories, states, map servers, application configuration settings?

If this can be solved, what do I need as far as application version, application configuration, map servers, deleting old data, repeating area downloads, anthing else?

Otherwise, I have excellent functionality and performance.

Definitely update to the latest version -- 3.97. Soon after 3.85 there were some major changes to the batch download tool that have eliminated the issues you are describing.

I may be missing something here, but I'm getting this same message all over my Colorado topo maps throught the center of Colorado. How do I fix? [I am using 3.97].

Hello,
I am using V 3.97 and I am having the same problem displaying colored aerials for areas West of Nogales, AZ and heading out to Pena Blanca Lake. Also, I noticed today that some colored aerials are missing for areas East of Highway 82 going to Patagonia. I am getting the same message. Unable to display map for this location......Everything else displays fine, including the Topo's for the aras and B&W. Anything I can do Scott?

Must be a bug in the system... I'm getting the same message for maps in central Phoenix, and other areas. Ones that I'm pretty sure Iv'e been at "color 0.003" before, and had no problem with. I'm running the current version too.
I'm trying to copy Dale's BCT map to topofusion, for tomorrow's ride and can't.
Oh well.

Ok kinda weird, I've got topofusion on 2 computers, a laptop and a desktop, both at home running off the same modem. The laptop is the computer I am having probs with. I'm on my desktop now and no issues with the color tilesets. Both are running the exact same version 3.97, I downloaded them 1 after another.
Any ideas?

Hello,
I'm running TopoFusion on two computers both with XP OS and V 3.97. One is custom built desktop that has been running TopoFusion for several years. The other computer is an Acer Aspire One that has been synced with the TopoFusion files on my desk top. We use the Acer in the field. I just checked my Acer and it has the same problem loading colored aerials. Strange. Could there be a problem with the server for the colored aerials?

Please note that my problem happens with both the colored aerials AND the topo maps. Pretty much wipes out the San Juan mountains in Colorado.

I am upgraded to 3.97, no apparent change in symptoms. I am wondering if older map files need to be deleted/redownloaded. Also, how much of the symptoms that people are seeing could be simply that the maps/color aerials really are not/were not on the server, or that the symptoms are otherwise caused by the server datasets, not the application? I also recall that way back before my last two upgrades(before there was batch downloading) I did not have these symptoms.

On a related note, is it reasonable to have a "recommended settings" file for the app? I assume a new install of the app will have the preferred application config already set, but I don't know if an upgrade changes the previous application configuration settings.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the late response -- I was out of town riding/camping this weekend.

I can confirm there is a server issue for most color aerials. Topo maps are downloading just fine. Perhaps that was just a temporary server hiccup?

I will investigate the color aerial issue and post back when I know more. Thanks for the reports and the patience.

Hi Scott,

No, it seems to persist on the topos. Take a look at Monarch Pass Colorado in Topo 4M. Lots of tiles to the south of the pass (and going almost all the way to New Mexico...).

You are right. Funny, in AZ Topo 4M tiles are coming in fast and 100% coverage. I am seeing the missing tiles south of Monarch though.

The issue with the topos is showing on Terraserver (now MSR maps) as well:

It is likely temporary, though we will continue to monitor and update.

The error message with the color aerials is:

Error: [ERR0134] Requested Service is not available.

That also sounds like a temporary outage. Unfortunately it seems to be affecting almost all color aerial downloads. I am not seeing any indication of a server change yet. Will look into it more and post if we learn anything.

Yep, I was in Sedona to do the 'race', which turned into more of a 'can you cross the super deep creek' event than a pedaling contest. Still had a great ride, putting in about 50 miles.

I was at BCT on Sunday, too, but Chad and I got there late and decided to go south on the trail to check out how deep the river was (totally unsafe to cross, IMO!).

It has not spread to other areas in the vicinity.

Beta is available with fixes for both server issues. Additionally, we have added color aerial coverage for several states, which brings us up to full coverage for the lower 48.

Missing tiles should be a thing of the past from terraserver, as well. Please let me know if you notice any issues.

Right now the beta is only available to registered users (contact me if you do not have the beta download link), but we anticipate releasing this version to the public ASAP, most likely by the end of the day.

Just a note, v3.971 with the fix for both of these issues is released in full and demo forms. There is no difference between it and the 3.971 beta, so if you already installed the beta, there is no need to download/install again.

Ok, I am up to 3.971, I think I have seen some previously failed color aerial downloads succeed, but mostly I am seeing can't connect to server. This brings me back to my previous question, what about default application settings (in this case, what are the proper map server names?), or, do changes in items like the list of server names which ship with a new code version get overridden by my configuration for the previous code version?

In short, do I need to know a list of map server names that may not be showing up after my upgrade?

Hi,

The color aerial tileset is special and comprised of several different servers and access methods. Those server setting are upgraded with each version, so there are no previous settings that may be hanging around to mess things up.

CustomWMS servers are settings that are not overwritten, on the other hand.

I am seeing good/fast downloading for color aerials in AZ right now. Where are you having issues?

I was having trouble in far east Southeast AZ. But I see that the downloads are working now, so I would say that the problem looks fixed, and I am just now seeing variable up/down/speed/timeouts from some servers.
