Batch Map Download Hangs at 98% - TF Pro ver. 4.10 on Win Vista
« on: February 18, 2011, 09:24:42 PM »
Hello,
I am a new user of TF Pro, version 4.10, and seem to have a major problem with batch downloads of maps. I am consistently unable to complete a batch download, even though I have a 4 Mbps broadband connection and am able to view all tiles when running normally in online mode.  I've tried various box sizes which result in estimated file sizes from about 5 MB all the way to about 44 MB, and these are in different areas of Utah.  In every case, the download progresses smoothly to the next to the last tile, 98% complete, and there it hangs.  After awhile, I start getting messages that it is "re-enabling download", but nothing else seems to happen, and that last tile simply will not download.  This is true whether it is 74 out of 75 total tiles, or 301 out of 302 tiles, or 445 out of 446 tiles. It always says 98% complete, the elapsed time counter just keeps on ticking, and the est. time left either says "no time" or gives a 1 or 2 second time.
This is very frustrating. And I see on searching the forums that similar issues have been reported with earlier versions, but no explanation other than server problems was ever forthcoming that I could see.  I fail to understand how all but the last tile could download smoothly and then that last tile would not download due to a server problem. This seems like a software problem.
Hopefully someone has a solution.
Thanks.

UPDATE:
I just ran another test this morning on a different region - same thing happened, this time on an estimated 4 MB file with 70 tiles. It completed 69 tiles, 98%, in less than 2 minutes, then hung.  After 15 minutes, I cancelled the operation. BUT, this time I examined the map area with internet downloading disabled, and it appears that all map tiles are present. (Didn't count them, but don't see a tile missing at any zoom level or map type that I had chosen.)  So, it may be a software bug wherein the operation actually completes, but the batch download dialog hangs.
