Topofusion on the Mac

Anybody try topofusion on a Mac using Virtual PC? Seems to have problems accessing the internet. I just get blank tiles with dots on them. Other programs don't seem to have any problems.

We've heard from several users that have successfully used TF on Virtual PC.  So I'm not sure what could be wrong in your case.

Blank tiles with white noise means you're in an area with no maps.  Could that be it?

If TF fails to make connection to Terraserver (or OnEarth) it will report a message and switch internet downloading off.  Is it doing that?

I think the problem has to do with the networking setting within Virtual PC. Apparently, it doesn't work well in a WiFi setup (can't use the switched mode). I'll have to use a direction connection and change the network setting from shared to switched and see if that works.

I just installed Topofusion Basic and it runs well on Vitural PC- good maps/aerials . . .

HOWEVER, I can't get TF to talk to my Gramin Map60CSx.

Any suggestions?

Have you installed the Garmin USB drivers (available from Garmin.com) ?

I installed Trip & Waypoint Manager. Is there something else I need to do?

I think that should have installed them, yep.

Is Trip and Waypoint able to communicate with the GPS?

The USB emulation is a tricky thing.

I checked. The Garmin USB drivers are installed.

I launched Map Source, and it could not find my GPS either. So, it's not just TopoFusion.

I have enabled USB in "settings" in Vitural PC. I expected to see something like "Garmin Map60 CSx", but that was not available, so I selected "unknown USB device".

Sounds like a Virtual PC issue.  I think that VMFusion works with TF and USB, but I'm not sure if anyone has been able to get Virtual PC to work.

I'd try the native Mac version of mapsource from Garmin, then save out to .GPX and open in TF.
