Running Basic version 5.48 (can't upgrade to 5.51 as installer errors out at 'small-city.gpx' writing file)

Combined two tracks and saved as new track (each had arrows in different directions) and joined with third drawn track in between, and now have direction arrows in two directions. If I cut track, select and right click 'reverse track', I then get a line way off to the joneses, joining start or end of one track with cut end. Tried all right click reverse combos, like reverse last, with and without display arrows enabled, and no luck.

When I click on track, I get the original distance and elevation profile only from original tracks, depending on where on new track I click (yes, original tracks are deselected in display) and not combined track stats.

Tried recreating from original tracks, and reversing one track first, same problem as the actual arrows do not reverse, just the elevation profile.

Any way to a) Eliminate arrows entirely (track is intended to be traveled either way so there is no need for direction), or b) make them all same direction?

Anyone want pile of hair I've pulled out?  :)

Thanks

I could use a little hair as mine is thinning!  ;)

A tutorial on this is long overdue from me.  But a few key points:

1 - make sure all tracks you are joining are one way only (that they don't go out/back).  if they are, snip the ends until you only have one way.
2 - make sure all tracks are snipped at the join points
3 - choose a direction you want the track to end up in (yes, it must go one way or the other)
4 - click on the first track and use the profile tool (drag the mouse along the profile) to make sure it is traveling in the direction it needs to be.  if not, reverse it.
5 - now click on the tracks in order

The key to success is to make sure everything it set up properly before you start joining, especially the direction of the first track.

Hope that helps some!

Scott thanks,

Spent last hour re building GPX from tracks. I've got three tracks, one goes (arrows) east, one west, and a drawn track in between. No out and back.

Join tool, click on west track, then click on east track and get line going off to other end.
 - Right click on Reverse track, and get another line going askew before I can do anything else (from raw track end where I click,  to one or other original track ends - like if raw ends are points a an b, and other ends are c an d, then I get a line from a to d, or a to c, etc).
- Right click and erase last line gets rid of all changes, and am back to where I started.

If I try clicking on east track first, then west track, same weird lines. Any amount of trying to reverse track results in lines being drawn askew.

Also, drew line to join tracks, line goes same direction that one track goes - Try to join tracks and zap! same askew lines.

Is there any way to reverse the arrow direction of just one track, and save it that way BEFORE joining?

(Several times now when I am drawing tracks, right clicking to save drawn track does not bring up Save menu, and no way to escape Draw function, have to close and reopen TF losing drawn track)

I've attached the three files I am trying to combine into one master file in case there is something wrong with them.. The 'Mt Lassen...' file is considered my master, as it will be the final version. The Verdi Junk is the one I drew, trying to join Mt Lassen and the 'Edgewood...' tracks.

No major rush, as I am mapping out a bikepacking route and will be riding segments this and next year.

Anyway, thanks!
Glen

Yes, you can reverse and save out a track by using the join tool:

1 - click on the track in join tool mode
2 - right click and reverse
3 - right click and save as...

now be sure to disable or remove the old track that was going the other direction or you won't be sure which you are clicking on.

One more tip for joining is to disable every track in your active file list *Except* for the bare minimum of the tracks/files you need.  It's possible you have some other tracks in the area (of the same trails) you are clicking on.

That is odd that right click isn't working for you that often!  So no context menu pops up?  Are you sure no key on the keyboard is being held down?

Thanks Scott, I'll try those tricks. I may be slow, but eventually trainable! I do turn off all but tracks to be joined, so none hiding.

Problem with upgrade failing is my anti-virus, so no action needed there.

Not sure re Draw sticking in Draw mode, no other key held down. I s-u-s-p-e-c-t that my touch pad may be involved, maybe static buildup. Only thing I can think of. Will test further.

Appreciate the help!
