HD Topos for Canada - v3.74
« on: March 29, 2009, 11:42:11 AM »
We're happy to announce the release of version 3.74 of TopoFusion Pro.  Atop the feature list are new and improved Canadian Topo maps.  TopoFusion was one of the first mapping apps to include downloadable topographic maps for all of Canada, and now we've gone a step further with these new maps, available courtesy of WMS-Toporama on GeoGratis (official public announcement of this new server hasn't even been made yet).

Here's what the old ones looked like:

Quite a difference in clarity and added info.  Perhaps the best addition is that of elevation labels on the contours (which were absent on the old maps).  Check them out by downloading the latest TopoFusion Pro, or for registered users, check your purchase email for download instructions. For other additions and fixes, see Revision History.

Thanks!  Any improvement on the Canada maps is welcome.  I just downloaded and I have a couple observations.

Some tiles are still the older, poor quality ones.  (50.37428 N / 122.58572 W for instance) Could this be because they may be on my hard drive from the previous version?

3d profile does not work yet.  Will this be enabled later?

Thanks again!

Yes, it's because they are in your map cache.  If you would like to go to all new maps you have two options:

1) delete your map cache and start over (good option if you don't have too many maps downloaded)
2) email us at support@topofusion.com and we'll give you instructions on how to invalidate the old
maps so that TF will download new Topos to replace them

For #1, you just need to delete mapindex.dat and all mapsX.dat (maps0.dat, maps1.dat, etc).

As for 3d profiling, what do you mean?  The 3D texture does update with the current profile position now...

OK, that worked.  Also, I had something checked to use DEM for 3d which was causing the problem.
