Feature Requests / Re: Waypoint icons
« Last post by Stephen Brewer on December 30, 2020, 09:02:27 AM »
Either custom or a bigger library- I guess it depends on how big the library is.
I don't really print out maps, most of what I use is in digital form. But what I am running into is a lack of being able to distinguish markers from various groups. It would be really useful to change the colors, so that the simple dots (City, (Large)), could be used to easily pick out one type of marker from another. Much of my problem lies in the fact that most of the markers are rather large and do not pinpoint the location as well as I would like. More markers with something like a crosshair would be useful, along with the ability to change colors and maybe sizes of each. Right now I do use the 3 sizes of the city markers, but it would be more distinguishable if they could be made different colors as well.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the post -- it's not out of the question but not a priority either.

Which would be more helpful, custom or a bigger library?  I guess custom is the most versatile.

Are you looking to export or print maps with the icons on them?  Just curious what the end product would be.

Thanks

Not an entirely new request, just wondering if there are any plans to incorporate either custom waypoint icon capabilities, or a larger library of available icons.

Feature Requests / Re: Windows 10 Internals GPS receiver
« Last post by ScottMorris on August 01, 2020, 03:15:12 PM »

If the internal GPS supports emulating a serial (COM) port and shooting out NMEA format, it will work in NMEA mode with TF.  Some people do that.

If there's a newer windows API for accessing the internal GPS, though, we should add support for it, for sure.  Thanks for the nudge.

Feature Requests / Windows 10 Internals GPS receiver

TF is a great piece of software. Being able to connect a GPS receiver to it is great but the present method is very difficult and many wires. Seems always to fail when I go jeeping so I use a different software that uses the internal GPS of my computer.  Just wondering if you added the capability to use the internal GPS it would be one of the best..

TopoFusion Pro / No GPS Live Tracking with Windows 10
« Last post by spartan on July 28, 2020, 10:52:41 AM »
I've got the latest (at the time of this post) version of TF, and am running Windows 10 Pro 64b. I've got a GPS on COM1, from Sierra Wireless. VisualGPS shows the receiver is working fine, and a few other GPS testing programs can see the data from COM1.

However, TF cannot.

When starting Live Tracking, I have tried all options (and set each one under options), to no avail. No GPS location is shown on the map, it doesnt re-center, nothing. Everything but NEMA will display an error (which I expect). The NEMA setting allows me to click Start Tracking, but nothing happens. I know it's not a cold boot situation for GPS, but I let it run for over 8 hours - no GPS position was plotted on the map.

Any suggestions?

TopoFusion Pro / UTM values getting switched when setting waypoint
« Last post by davehunt00 on July 19, 2020, 03:33:28 PM »
When saving a waypoint, the UTM easting and northing values are being swapped.

I have TopoFusion Pro set to US Topo
Options / Preferences / Units / Coordinate type = UTM, Datum selection = WGS 84

Zoom to someplace like Delta Utah
Click the waypoint flag icon in the toolbar
Click on Delta
>> the Add Waypoint dialog comes up
set File to add waypoint to: New File
   set Name to "test point"
note UTM Coordinates are something close to "0363783.35 4357407.49" and UTM Zone = 12
   click OK
   >> file dialog appears
       set name to "waypt test"
       click Save
In the file list below the map, double click on the new file
**Welcome to Colombia...

Right click on the waypoint / Edit waypoint
** notice the UTM Coordinates are now: 4357407.49 0363783.35

Neat workaround: edit one of the UTM decimals, click OK
Double click the file again
**Back to Utah...

Appears the easting and northing are being reversed on Add Waypoint save

Thanks!
D
