TopoFusion Pro / Re: Wonky display when resizing file "properties" window
« Last post by ScottMorris on July 05, 2021, 01:23:20 PM »
Interesting, thanks for the report!  My laptop only goes to 1920 so I can't test the 2200 width.  Will have to figure out another way.

I don't see any wonkiness when maximizing, but maybe it's not quite wide enough on my machine.

Thanks as always!

TopoFusion Pro / Wonky display when resizing file "properties" window
« Last post by KenF on July 04, 2021, 07:28:26 PM »
Hi Scott-
Some more consistent peculiar behavior.
It looks like two similar but separate issues.
When displayng the "properties" window of a loaded file and then maximizing (or resizing horizontally), some of the contents on the left side disappear or get blocked when the window width becomes larger than about 1350 pixels. This doesn't seem to block the  "file information" box, but something (like the appearance of an unused control) can be seen going on in the left margin space.

Horizontal resizing beyond about 2200 pixels (on my system) results in "Run-time error '6': Overflow"
This always occurs. The symptoms fit an integer overflow issue when expressing the windows width in finer system units (twips?).

TopoFusion Pro / Re: FIT files revisited - no waypoints
« Last post by Larry on June 30, 2021, 08:01:18 AM »

Being able to download, edit and/or resave FIT files directly to/from the device (especially without using other software) would be VERY useful.

Thanks

I'm assuming that my old Garmin Forerunner 310xt handles waypoints ("Locations") in a similar manner. Manually inputting them is a pain. Being able to upload them directly from TF would be really great! And downloading saved Locations too.

Output?
Is there supposed to be a FIT output function? I see 13 format options when doing a file "save as," but FIT is not one of them.
(Input has 14 options, including FIT)
I would LOVE to have FIT output capability. It would avoid some kludgy workarounds that I presently use with the Epix.

Thanks

Interesting.  I'll admit that the FIT input/output routine is not super robust.  It needs some work.  Very complicated API, unfortunately.

Might be able to fix this issue though. Thanks for reporting it.

TopoFusion Pro / FIT files revisited - no waypoints
« Last post by KenF on June 27, 2021, 03:15:06 PM »
This is a persistent issue that I have mostly ignored on a Garmin Epix that I have used for a few years.
The Epix (a discontinued wrist type device) stores its waypoints (aka "locations") in a "Locations.fit" file in a "Garmin\Locations" folder.
Both of the following result in an empty TF entry,  i.e. no waypoints  (and no error messages).
  (1) Using the TF GPS transfer function - "Download waypoints,"
  (2) Directly reading/loading "Locations.fit" as a file.

In contrast,  FIT files for tracks (aka  "Activities") can be read/downloaded into TF either way.

This missing waypoint issue seems to be specific to TF.  Other GPS software and/or FIT file conversion utilities I have played with seem to handle the waypoints (or the Locations.fit file) from the Epix as expected.

TopoFusion Pro / Re: Remove PhotoFusion option

Thanks Scott,

The idea was as you mentioned; to quickly revert to a 'clean' file when something does not work.  I'm very good at finding what does not work ha ha but I think I've got it figured out now -- like the need to re-size full res pictures I link on the web to a more reasonable size.  But no worries if it's not worth adding a 'clear PF' feature.

Hey Larry,

Glad to hear you are finding PhotoFusion useful!

So by remove PhotoFusion do you mean to delete the waypoints with photos in them?  The placed photos are just waypoints so you can go to "File Properties"->"Waypoints" and even sort by 'type' to see all the "Photo" ones, then shift click to select them all and hit the delete key.

I could see having a handy 'remove button' in the PF dialog, I guess, especially if you are doing multiple tries or just want to clear the file.  Wouldn't be too hard to add.  Thanks for the post.

Hi Scott,

I've discovered how slick PhotoFusion is for the documentation I do as part of Forest Service volunteer work. It saves a lot of text trying to explain what's what and where. One feature that would be handy would be a 'remove PhotoFusion' button where I might want to re-use the .gpx file but without PF.  I can do it with Notepad ++ but this would be easier. Or maybe the remove option is already there and I didn't find it!

TopoFusion Pro / Re: Can Track labels be toggled off?

Of course. An obvious toggle in plain sight on the menu bar.
Next I should ask if Topofusion can be used to shows maps. ;)

TF is still far and away the most useful single GPS/Mapping tool I am aware of.
