Okay I got creative and used GPSbabel thanks to Adam L (Epic Adam). With a little moving around of the stuff in excel I got it into universal CSV and then converted to GPX. I'm getting 391 miles and 60k vertical for the hiker trail points. Does that coincide with what you're getting? It seems like it will measure short since it's condensing 500 miles into not *that* many points but I didn't get a chance to scan through the whole track to make sure it looked totally right. I only have a Windows computer at work so I have to work during lunch.

On board for the CTR? I'm still a maybe but leaning towards yes (hence the map work). I'm not sure fading memories are a huge part of it although they probably help. In the end it was a bit of a mechanical issue that sealed my decision making about the GLR which bums me out. In hindsight you never know if it was the right choice but it's done now and I'll just move foward. I've been looking forward to the CTR since I started preriding it last summer and the biggest issue is my small amount of vacation days at my job that will likely be spent during the race.

Scott,

I'm trying to open the GPS data from bearcreeksurvey of the Colorado Trail but haven't been successful so far.

Data looks like this:
39.491279 -105.094465; A000TH; Begin Seg 1 Waterton TH
39.491293 -105.094788; A001TH; Follow Road
39.487478 -105.097952; A004XR; Stay Right
39.485254 -105.105518; A009XT; Enter Canyon
and so on...

Is there an easy way to do this? I really don't care about the descriptions either, just want to make a rough track and then edit it with the bike detours.

Chris
