TopoFusion Pro / Re: Support for Garmin Forerunner 405
« on: November 28, 2009, 10:53:08 PM »
Thanks for the reply, Scott.  I'd already seen the other thread, and was able to successfully export a new run today in Garmin Training Center format (.tcx) to my Topofusion directory and open the file in Topofusion.  I see in the other thread that you intend to support all Garmin devices, and am hoping that hasn't changed.

By the way - I've been using Topofusion for almost four years, and absolutely love it!

TopoFusion Pro / Support for Garmin Forerunner 405

Does TopoFusion Pro support the Garmin Forerunner 405, which uses the Garmin USB ANT stick for communication between the 405 and your computer?  I just purchased this unit, and have it set up with Garmin's Training Center.  However, whenever I try to initiate a GPS Communications session with the 405, I get the following error message:  "Error initializing COM/USB port, check for other programs using port and that the device is connected and turned on.  If you are using a Garmin USB unit, you may not have the USB drivers installed.  Get them here:  <pointer to Garmin USB drivers>"  I've tried setting the GPS type to Garmin USB, Garmin Serial, and Older Garmin Serial.

Archived Support / Topo Map Coordinates Off

Thanks for the quick response.  I'm located in Ventura, Calif., and understand that the line dividing UTM Zone 10 and UTM Zone 11 lies between Ventura and Santa Barbara.  Maybe there's some skewing with the older topo maps along the edges of these zones.

I tried plotting the same data in another GPS visualization product (SportTracks) and it referenced the data well with respect to GoogleMaps, so this adds additional weight to the problem being with the topo maps themselves.

Thanks for the info and thanks for the dynamite tool!  Things are a bit tight after the holiday season, but I'll be registering my copy in the next month or so.

Archived Support / Topo Map Coordinates Off

A few days, I downloaded TopoFusion 2.7 - still evaluating it before I purchase a registration key.  The odd thing I ran across is that the topo map loaded (any scale) doesn't match either the aerial photograph or the coordinates from my Garmin ForeRunner 201 GPS unit.  I'm fairly familiar with the area (since it's near my house), and it appears the topo map is off by 100 meters to the north and 100 meters to the east.

Is there any way of adjusting the coordinates for the topo map so that the topo, the aerial, and my GPS coordinates line up?
