TopoFusion Pro / Re: Adding elevation to a tracklog/GPX in Alaska

The elevation profile looks fine - the high and low values look good.   I am just surprised that Topo! is reporting ~14000ft of climbing vs these number from TopoFusion:

TopoFusion:       25514 ft
Straight GPS:       25514 ft
Straight DEM:       25514 ft
Maptech:       20801 ft
TopoUSA:       32560 ft
Training Center:       16910 ft
Custom Algorithm:       25514 ft

Its probably not a big deal - I don't really need these number, just was wondering why they are so different.

Thanks again for your help,
 -JayC

Glad you got the elevation data rolling.  Should just be climbing -- no descending.

Hmm... Perhaps I messed something up then.  The elevation profile looks good, but the climbing numbers are at least twice what I expected and what TOPO! is reporting.

I messed around a bit with the downloaded .dem file and got it to add the elevation, though the 3D mode does not appear to work.

Are the numbers reported in the "Climbing Analysis" dialog for climbing and descending (so up and down) or just climbing?

Thanks again,

TopoFusion Pro / Adding elevation to a tracklog/GPX in Alaska

Hello,
My apologies if this question is answered somewhere - I am attempting to add elevation to a tracklog so I can generate a elevation profile, but I cannot seem to get it to work.  I downloaded .dem files that cover the tracklog in question, but TopoFusion either hangs or does nothing when I hit the "Add Elevation To Track" button in the Climbing Analysis dialog.  I downloaded and converted a set of dem files as described in http://www.topofusion.com/3d.php#acquire but that does not appear to make a difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The tracklog can be found here: http://hippy.gina.alaska.edu/distro/sluicebox_100.gpx

Thanks in advance,
 -Jay C.
