Beta Testing / Edge 705 no communication
« on: May 14, 2008, 07:00:33 AM »
Running version 3.32:  Topo says unable to initialize COM/USB.  Hints on making it work?   Training Center reads tracks OK.  Garmin Communicator OK.  Substitute Edge 305 on same cable and it works, so that kills "other programs" warning.

TF marks the file as modified but the original altitude data remains in the file.

Archived Support / Wanting to merge tracks
« on: January 15, 2007, 10:14:11 PM »
When I download the active log from my Garmin it may be broken into multiple tracks (from signal loss?).  Topofusion gives the option to merge tracks into one file which I do since the trip was continuous.

I have found that Garmin will save the active log onto the data card (MicroSD).  {That data preserves the time unlike the save into the built-in memory (loses time).}   I can then insert the card into a USB card interface and copy the log to the PC.

Unfortunately the log is divided into tracks just as it was when Topofusion retrieved the active log via USB.  How can I merge the tracks in the copied log?

Archived - Feedback and Comments / Tracks won't shade
« on: September 25, 2006, 10:01:18 AM »
When clicking with the profile tool, the profile window shows the shading but the main window shows a solid wide track.  When I click on a second track it goes solid and the first track then shows shading (but not the one I selected).   Also when turning off display of track (check box) the track persists on the screen.  (v 2.95)

Archived Support / Looking for % grade tuning/accuracy
« on: September 07, 2006, 09:50:27 AM »
I had a bike ride that featured climbing a very steep hill.  The speed was very slow.  The % grade reported on playback didn't come close to the actual.   It had numbers as low as 3.6%.   My calculation shows a grade of ~25% (using the altitude from the GPS file and the distance from playback).  I assume that distance is the distance across the surface not the projection onto a flat plane.

When playing back and stopping at each step/point during the climb, the % grade should at least be monotonically increasing with each point (more altitude) but it doesn't.

Did my very slow speed cause TF to throw out points?  Even slower speed when projected to level, though some climbing was near 1 ft/sec vertical.

Archived - Feedback and Comments / Garmin 301 and Heart Rate
« on: May 21, 2006, 01:20:30 PM »
What is the future of Heart Rate data in Topofusion (if any)?  I see that Motion Based will accept and report on HR data from the Forerunner 301.Agua Dulce

NB The site is so slow every time I check it!

I would like to include HR data in Topofusion.  Ideas: Another data field in playback, summary column, input to difficulty/effort, or "pulse" the rider in playback.

A related question is there a GPX standard for HR data?
When I export the MB data to GPX there is no HRM data in the file (did I miss it?).

GPX is important to me because I have a Polar HRM and a Garmin GPS so my problem is to merge the two into a GPX file (sync on time) and pass it on to Topofusion.  (If you accelerate the development beat MB at their own game - they shun Polar)
