Any progress on the map server issues?

Email sent.

No problem, no hurry. I plan my rides in the winter, the snow doesn't leave the high country until late June.

My topo works. None of the Aerials work, which I'm needing the most.

And yes just downloaded last week. And the "check for updates" says it is the most recent.

OpenCycle works, but not relevant for what I use TopoFusion for.

What I use TopoFusion for is compare Topo, Idaho trials, with aerial photos to see if a trail is still in existence to get to old mines and high elevation lakes.

Got a new 'puter. installed topo fusion. Only tiles that work is "My Topo".

None of the tile sets that I have tried will download. Nag popup to enable download. Enable download, popup comes immediately back.

I will try smaller areas to download. I was trying for the entire state of Idaho, but that did not work. The external hard drive I have is 2 TB.

Thanks

Scott:
Sometimes I am away from Internet Access for weeks at a time when riding my ATV.
Would it be possible to store areas (images) on an external hard drive to access when on camping trips for rides?
Topos not so much, but Aerial images would be a big help. Topos contain trails that may have been there 10 years ago, but Aerials show what is there now.

Yep you were right.

After Windows got done installing all the service packs to bring it up to date, most of the drivers were reverted back. Updated all the drivers, and wall-la: TopoFusion worked once again.

Just let me say here that if I ever get my hands on one of those people that makes or spreads mal-ware or virus, or any computer harming code...

SSS is my motto.

Thanks again Scott for a great product.

Well Scott, your newest version doesn't want to load on my machine. Again.

I had some troubles and had to Format the hard drive. So it came time to reinstall Topo Fusion and it failed to load.

Here is the Error Log:

Could it be that I need a more advanced driver fro DirectX?

TopoFusion Anouncements / Re: TIGER service discontinued

Color.

And I know in what year some changes happened in a couple of areas, and the images are more than 5 years old.

And the area is Southwest Idaho.

Any news on when new color images will become available?

The color images are several years old, and logging roads that show up plainly on TopoFusion are overgrown and impassable currently.

Thanks,

TopoFusion Pro / Re: Making A Route, And Sending It To GPS Unit
« on: March 18, 2010, 11:36:29 AM »
Thank you for the link.

However when I draw a route, using the "crayon tool" (as I like to call it), I don't get much of the "red line" stuff.

Besides, we stay on trails, and with the TopoFusion being able to see the Sat. stuff, you can see the intersections (which is what I mark, if I'm not using the "crayon tool". Besides with the 500 I get distance to turn banners at the top of the screen, which is really handy.

I'm still not certain of the  differentiation between a route and a track. I'm sure it's something very technical, but my gps will do routes but seems to ignore tracks.

So when TopoFusion saves a gpx it is a track. So when MapSource saves a gpx as a route, it adds something?

As to waypoints and via points, Garmin Tech Support has this to say about the 500 (and I would assume all Nuvis):
Quote
You can have only 10 imported routes at one time. There for the routes stored in the and on your SD card, will not count against the 10 if they have been imported. The limit of via point and waypoints is a memory issue. I have seen routes with up to 200 way or via points.

I can work around the current problem. And the last MapSource  update solved the problem of MapSource crashing every time you saved a gpx (that work around involved saving the track/route as a gdb, putting it through GPSBabelGUI to save as a gpx).

It's all good, I was just curious as to the difference between a track and a route.

I am curious as to what others experiences are.

My use for Topo Fusion is to make routes for ATV rides in the back country of Idaho. Topo Fusion is the best tool out there because it combines the best of all worlds in viewing Sat. images, Tiger data, and topo maps.

Now for the but.

When I make a route in Topo Fusion and send it to the GPS (in this case a Nuvi 500) it doesn't show up as a route. In fact the 500 ignores it completely. So what I have done in the past is to save it as a gpx. Then open it in Map Source, trace it with the route tool, then use the edit/cut, close Map Source, open a new Map Source, edit/paste, and then save it as a route. Then send it to the GPS as a route. Then it show up in "My Data" and can be imported.

So tell me, is there an easier way? I'm all ears!

With a lot of back and forth emails Scott was able to get me up and running with the current version.

With the coming of spring, and time to hit the back country trails on the ATV, TopoFusion is a "must have" tool.

I want to thank Scott and his help in getting me up and running again.

Many thanks Scott.

From 3.85

Splash screen only.

I uninstall-ed the program. and tried to reinstall 3.85. It failed also.

I'm going to disable all anti everything and try again.

And now the XP machine locks up when I open the current version.

Any suggestions?
